Using MindManager Pro 9.2.504 in my company, when I try to import a word document, I get the error message
"Mindjet MindManager fails to create a new document in Microsoft word. Please make sure Template name and filename is named correctly".

The document exists, and event if i just try to import a word I just exported it just doesn't work...

Do you have any idea?

I know, this is an old version, but it's all I have.  If I can't find a way around, I'll have to try at home :)

thank you for your help

Just to clarify, are you trying to export a document to Word from MindManager, or to import a document to MM from Word? Your post suggest you are trying to import from Word but if so the error message is a bit confusing. Either way, here are some things to try:

1. Regardless of whether you are importing from or exporting to Word, check that you have the same bit versions of both programs - they should be both 32-bit, or both 64-bit. If they are different they won't talk to each other and you will have to upgrade one or the other - presumably MindManager, unless your version of Word is even older.

2. Again regardless of whether you importing or exporting, check the Word template that MM is using. You are asked about the template when you export to Word but even if you are importing the template seems to play some role. You could try a different one and while MM 9.2 should be compatible with the current version of Word you could save the template in Word with the older .dot suffix filename rather than the current .dotx version and set this as the template in the Word export dialogue box in MM.

3. If you are importing, MM 9.2 again should be compatible with current Word files with the .docx suffix filename, but you could save the Word file in the older Word 97-2003 .doc format and then try to import that.

4. I'm not absolutely certain that MM 9.2 sets up the Send to MindManager button in Word, but if you can see it in the Word toolbar try highlighting and sending a portion of the document to MM. If there isn't one check the user guide to see if it's meant to be there and if so follow the instructions to enable the Word MindManager add-in which activates the Send to button.
