Hi
I have a large schedule; 1500 nodes

As I use the file it's has got progressively slower
Is this like MSP where there is a lot of history info stored in the background that needs to be purged

If yes how do do that

Oh and the file is starting crashing when I do multiple changes.

It's a while since I've worked with very large maps. While I don't think any were as large as yours I did have problems with some of them becoming quite slow as they can be very memory-hungry.

I don't have a solution but there are a few things I can suggest. The most obvious is to rethink the map structure and see whether you can break the map up into several linked maps, and/or use dashboard maps.

Another probably obvious suggestion is to make sure all other applications are closed. Finally, I also found that it helped to save very large maps in an unfiltered state, and (also again obviously) save them frequently.

I have this issue frequently and my approach has been linked maps: it's rare that I need to immediately reference any one specific topic.
I also noticed that topics with embedded images exacerbate the problem. (I often add screenshots to maps). Again, linked maps help.
Hope this helps.

Thanks gents.
I suspected that might be the answer.

oooo supplementary question

Can you link tasks between linked maps. So that a task in one map can drive the start of a task in the other map

Also is it normal for CPU to max out at 30% ish

Hi! Not sure about the tasks aspect (I use MM more for knowledge management rather than task/project management, so no meaningful use of tasks).
Assuming you mean CPU with just mind manager sits at 30%, that seems high to me. I just opened a map with 3600 topics (about 12000 words and likely dozens of screenshots) and CPU initially spiked at 60% opening it but then rarely goes over 15% when moving around the map. Win 10 on a Lenovo X1 Carbon with 8GB memory here.
Hope this helps.

its when I get it do a task like power filtering, when its sitting there is not using much of anything.

just thought it was strange that when needed its not accessing more CPU

I'm running a dell latitude i5-6300u cpu with 8gb ram with 64bit Win 10

Also wondering if you have a lot if inserted files (rather than, say, links to files)? File size difference can be massive, of course, maybe effecting performance?

Is your hard drive less than 10% empty? That seems to exacerbate things.

In over 18 years of using MindManager versions I never felt the need to check CPU usage. Why is it important to you? In case I missed somthing important ;-)

I was looking at memory and CPU usage because of the slow performance I am getting and just wondered why it was not maxing out the available computational resource.

The question being is this normal or have I got a setting issue.

I suspect that I have generated a large linked schedule for costing and planning purposes (not for daily management) and that the performance is being hit by that calculation process in the background when a change or filter is made.

The answer will be to construct differently to suit the software. I need to do that anyway so I can create something I can use on a daily basis as well as just costings
