I have created a number of mind map files. I uninstalled a number of programs from my computer, one of which was MindJet Mindmanager. I reinstalled Mindjet Mindmanager, but the files that I created appear to have been deleted when I unistalled the program. I have my fingers crossed that I have not lost my maps! Please tell me I didn't!

Hi Jesah,

Your Maps should not be lost. Please check the following folder on your computer - C:\Users\username\Documents\My Maps

If you chose to save to a different path, use the Windows Search feature to look for files with extension '.mmap'.

Thanks,
-Marian

I used the Windows Search feature to look for files with the .mmap extension, but the files I'm looking for aren't there. I would assume that the auto save feature would have saved them even if I hadn't manually done so myself. I'm wondering if the problem is that I didn't manually save the files.... :(

Could it be that the files were located on Mindjet's cloud storage? In that case, the files should still be accessible via http://vision.mindjet.com

Jesah,

I checked our system and do see you have a Mindjet Reader account. As Mathieu suggested, please check if your files are stored online by either logging in through the Web Client or use the 'Log in' button in the lower left-hand corner of MindManager 14.

Thanks,
-Marian

Thanks for the direction guys. However, I was not using the cloud this time - the files currently on the cloud were from over a year ago when I was using Mndjet.

It seems the files were deleted when I uninstalled Mindjet. While the files were open for days and days, I think they may have been lost because I didn't manually save the files prior to the uninstall. I would think that the autosave feature would have ensured this didn't happen.

I think the auto save feature only works on files which have been initially given a name at the first save. Also, you should always check for the little star '*' in the title bar which indicated if the file has been saved (star) or not (no star).

It sounds like my files weren't manually saved. Thanks for the continued support with this issue.

I'd be curious if a possible enhancement could include not requiring a manual save for the auto-save feature to take place for a file.
