By % the visitors to my Applications of MindManager blog are evenly spilt between these three desktop browsers: IE 30.5 IE 28.1 FF 26.3 and Safari 4.9
In other words 69.5% of my visitors cannot use the copy URL to the current topic button that is provided for IE.
Oh and 8.6% of my visitors are using a mobile mostly with a Safari browser. Thankfully iThoughtsHD do provide a Java script bookmark which adds URLs to their maps.
I wonder when Mindjet or the add in developers will provide this simple functionality in other browsers?
Chrome and Ff are my normal browsers but Sometimes I am forced to use IE. Today (12/22/2016) I was in IE and right clicked to print a page when I saw the option "send to mindmanager". Was that a shock so I created a new test map called clipedto and then "sent" and was pleased (shocked) that the page description AND link was sent to the map. Started sending a few more pages and was really impressed.
I have had to perform this function manually over the decades of MM use and it it MANY times a day. I never added this to IE and now request this be an extension to ALL browsers. This is a very powerful ability.
I can understand that it might take some time, but Corel should be working on this already.
We don't want a repeat of the problem with the MindManager Google search part which was in versions 9 to 16 and then one day suddenly stopped working. It turned out that Google had deprecated the API that was used in the search part and Mindjet had decided that as it would need to be completely rewritten to conform with the new API it would have to be pulled from the program. The fact that there was no warning was almost as surprising as the apparent failure to start work on a replacement well in advance, even though Google had given advance warning the API would be deprecated.
Let's hope this doesn't happen again when Microsoft's support for IE is ultimately phased out in favour of Edge.
I would love to see a list of "enhancements" that are being worked on - Not a delivery date, just worked on.
Would also be helpful to both the user community and Mindjet if all users were given a voting opportunity as to what feature/functions we would like to see and their priority.
My main concern is when features like Google search and PDF export are suddenly "deprecated" with little or no warning.
If there is a specific issue such as an increase in licencing fees or complex changes to a third-party API which means there may be a problem down the track with a particular feature, then Corel/Mindjet should be much more upfront about explaining the situation and seeking feedback from users. This is where some sort of poll would be particularly useful.
I'm also in favour of seeking the views of users on features they would like to see in MindManager but I don't think this should be the sole way in which new features are added. Just like any other company Corel has the right not to telegraph all its punches to its competitors. Some features are also so novel that their benefits might not be recognised in such a poll; users need to get experience in working with them to realise their full potential.
