I have been using Mindmanager 2002 for many years and only just upgraded to 2020. However I cannot use any of my previous Mindmaps any way of importing to 2020?

This has been answered several times in this community. You may consider a search on it. The short answer is .... older maps have the *.mmp extension, newer have *.mmap. you couldimport and convert from .mmp to .mmap in 5 or 6 releases after the change. So if you have eg mm7 somewhere installed you are lucky.

I think *.mmap became the standard format from version 6 onwards. However, version 9 which is still available as a download from the MindManager website can read the older *.mmp files. You could download it, run it as a trial and if it works use it to open and convert all your *.mmp to *.mmap files before the trial period elapses.

If possible I suggest you attempt this on a different computer to the one you’re running MM 2020 on, in case the version 9 install interferes with MM2020 in some way.

I'm not sure if this is because there was some change in the format around 2000 even though the suffix *.mmp did not change until later, but the following discussion from six years ago about file conversion may be relevant: https://community.mindjet.com/mindjet/topics/converting_mmp_to_mmap.

Have a look at the MM Knowledge base article about conversion of files referred to in one of the responses: http://kb.mindjet.com/articles/en_US/Knowledge_Article/How-to-convert-old-maps-to-mmap-file/?q=.mmp&... I clicked on the download link in the article - http://www1.mindjet.de/downloads/mm35/mmv35e-13a.exe - which appears still to be live, but I didn't actually download it.

The converter did not seem to work for the OP on that thread, though it may work for you. Unfortunately the link in the later response to download MindManager X5 to undertake the conversion is no longer available.
