Can I access maps created on the app with the desktop version and vice versa?

Yes you can... as long as you have the moderately priced Mindjet PLUS or ProjectDirector.
There are rumours you can use dropbox etc. to exchange, but I never tried that since the Mindjet solution works fine for me.

Dropbox and Box both work.  They allow you to have a cloud store for your map and other files, and share them with other users. 

Create an account and install their apps on your iOS device and PC.

In iOS get to the top level of the folders where it says Cloud Storage and Add storage service.  Create a folder called My Maps.

In MindManager Windows in My Maps add a Folder Shortcut to your e.g. Dropbox folder. G:\Andrew\Documents\My Dropbox\My Maps. If you right click the shortcut, you can open it in File Explorer and get to any sub-folders you create.

Mindjet Files included in Mindjet Plus and Project Director gives you additional functionality: version control, simultaneous co-editing with other Windows or Browser users but not on iOS (where the map is checked out for editing).
