Cannot edit local map after recovery in Windows

I forgot to save when shutting down PC on Monday. After restarting yesterday, I ran 'Recover' on the 3 maps that had been open. After this, I cannot edit these maps. I can open other maps and these appear normal. This is critical as the three maps that are affected are, naturally, my main working areas, and will take forever to restore from scratch.

System info:  I have recently migrated to a new company IT platform and am using MM version 15.1.173 (32bit) ( recently installed by our IT-dept: I do not have admin rights on the PC due to company policy) and Win7 Enterprise (64bit).

I have used MM for 10 years now, and this is the first major problem I have encountered

Thanks in advance for assistance.

Hi Inge,

Are you able to select any of the Map Topics? If you can, try CTRL + A to select all of the Map content and try pasting it into a new Map.

Just an idea but might be worth a shot.

Regards

Nigel

The suggestion Nigel gives sounds simple but elegant. Try that.

Another thing.... You state you have MM 15 32 bit and run it on a windows 7 64 bit machine.

This may be the reason why this happened.
Please take care that all your software is 64-bit.

Your IT department  has to download 64 bit version of Mindmanager admin set up file. Admin file is a zip file .Extract it and run the msi.

Thanks Ary.

Simple and elegant is good if it works....

Just a quick note about MindManager 32 bit on 64 bit systems:

The 32 bit version of MindManager will operate without any issues on a 64 bit system providing anything it needs to interact with such as Microsoft Office and any 3rd party MindManager add-ins are also 32 bit.

If you have 32 bit Office installed, (and 32 bit versions of any add-ins if you are using them), then you must install the 32 bit version of MindManager to maintain full compatibility.

It is worth noting that even Microsoft recommend installing 32 bit applications, such as Office, on 64 bit systems unless there is a specific reason to use the 64 bit version such as utilizing the above 4GB memory limitation of the 32 bit systems.

MindManager 64 bit offers compatibility for users with 64 bit versions of Office and 64 bit addins can be supported. I am not sure whether the 64 bit version of MindManager contains many advantage unless you are looking to utilize the higher memory allocation mentioned above.

So if your running Office 32 bit or your maximum memory (RAM) is 4GB or less then 64 bit is not going to offer anything above the 32 bit version and may well offer you less

Hope this helps.

Regards

Nigel

Hi guys and thank you very much for inputs. I had to go on a quick business trip last week and was unable to test the proposed solution before this morning.
I followed Nigel's tip and (although it took a bit of time to mark the whole map before copying) the solution seems to work and affected maps now appear to be working again. Thanks a bundle! (As for the 32bit VS 64bit, I have not looked into that yet)
Again: Thank you! :-) Inge
