Hi, I can see that other users have had problems with opening attachments but I dont see the solution anywhere. I cant open attachments - my computer wants to save the attachments instead! And its using Adobe Flash Player to open attachments.
Anyone who has the solution for this. I have the free version. Thanks.

Your computer is saving the attachments by default because Connect does not have an embedded document repository that allows you to open documents directly in the system. It is going to ask you to save the document and then open it in the default program that you have. This is as designed. I hope that this helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

I still can't open attachments. Every time I click on the attachment name, it prompts me to save it.

Hi Brittney, thanks for info. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, because I cannot make it work. Here is what I do, step by step - please tell me where I am going wrong.

I click on add attachment, browse for the file, click Open and the dialogue box goes away and I now have an attachment icon, paper clip, next to the Thought. Next I click on the paper clip icon and the name of the attachment appears. I click on that and it asks me if I want to save the document. If I say yes, it tells me that I already have this document in this place, and do I want to replace it. If I click save it replaces the document, and I find no way to open it without leaving the program altogether and going in Finder on the Mac to dig it our of my files. If I then try again to open it by clicking on the paper click icon, it takes me through the very same sequence I just described.

Sorry to be so long winded, but I wanted to let you know exactly what I was doing.

John

Hi John. Thank you for this information, it is very helpful. I think what would be best at this point is if you would please open a support ticket with our team. Please provide the information that you have just given me. You can open a ticket by following this link: https://secure.mindjet.com/support/co.... They will more than likely need to gather additional information regarding the issue as well as obtain your appropriate contact information. Thank you John!

I am having the identical problem as John D. and equally frustrated. Was a ticket opened and if so where can I learn about the solution?

Hi John. Currently this is as designed. John D. posted this as an idea for others to vote on. Our product team will then look at these ideas and evaluate them for future releases. Here is the link to the page the idea is posted on: https://community.mindjet.com/mindjet.... I hope that this helps. Thank you!

So, to confirm, it has been designed to ask you to save the document every time you attempt to open it? For the record, I cannot even save the document. I click "Save" and it just tells me that the document already exists, would I like to replace it?"
I dont want to save or replace it, i just want to view the document after clicking on the paperclip in the Mind map.

Wow. Perhaps my work-flow and use-case scenario is unusual but I would view this capability as essential.

I absolutely love using MindJet to develop the framework for a new idea / concept but not as much without the ability to pull together documents.

Thanks.

Maybe I am dumb however when I attach a document to a map, and I click on the paperclip symbol, I want the document to open. Why does it always prompt me to save?
Importantly, how can I simply view the attachment I have supposedly attached to my mindmap?

It looks as though this is a dead end which is really unfortunate. Really diminishes the value proposition in my view. The ability to organize and access individual documents attached to a unique organizational framework is key.
