Can't add custom dictionary

Somehow, it felt like MM 2018 kept forgetting words I'd added to the dictionary. This was shared with Office 2010, and the entries looked it bit strange to me. In fact, MS Word didn't see any words in it; notepad++ showed a mix of standard characters and null characters. So I thought, ok, let's add a new custom dictionary and keep that for use by MM only, i.e. not sharing it with MS Office 2010.
MM wasn't able to create one under my AppData/Roaming/... folders. Permissions, ok.
So I copied and renamed MindManager.dic and tried to add that it; no luck.
The error message it pops up saysthat it could not add the custom dictionary due to either the file not existing, or opened in another program, or containing invalid characters, or not being in ANSI format.
An old community post talks about registry entries related to that; these don't seem to exist any more. Of course, they'Re under "Corel" now, no longer MindJet.

Werner, is this the old post you're referring to? https://community.mindjet.com/mindjet/topics/dictionary-issue-after-update

If so, I can help you to find the correct Registry entries for the current version of MindManager.

OK, for version 2018 of MindManager the correct Registry Key should be:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mindjet\MindManager\18\Spelling Checker

Thanks, Mathieu. This seems to be the "auto correction" dictionary, though, so not the one I'm after.
Am still in need of a solution.
Is there possibly a problem with the file format being just a little different between Office 2010 and MM 2018? (that's a long time in between...)
