I'd appreciate help:
I recorded my screen showing "clone" node operation in Freeplane, and I'm wondering how to perform similar command in Mindmanager 2017. Here is my screen-recording: https://goo.gl/2Zxbqs
In Mindmanager, if I use copy/paste, the nodes are duplicated.
By using "clone", the node content isn't duplicated, but updated anywhere it was reproduced.
It would be great if Mindmanager or any plugin provide this functionality!
Thanks for info!
While it was not intended to be used this way, you can use the new Map Roll-up feature in MM 17.1 to "roll-up" one or more topics in the same map to another topic. When you click the Refresh All Map Roll-ups in Map these topics will reflect changes made in the original topic.
I think Topic Tracker from Olympic Limited can also be used to paste topics which can be updated centrally but I haven't used it.
I tried Map Roll-ups feature and it fits in great extension what I was trying to perform. I would appreciate further clarification from you:
a) You said "While it was not intended to be used this way, you can use the new Map Roll-up feature", then I tried to find information in MindManager help file, but there is nothing about "Map Roll-up". Could you please clarify what for is Map Roll-up feature intended originally?
b) Thinking about presentations, I tried to hide/show the added "Map Roll-up" icon, however I couldn't find a way to that. Do you know if it is possible to show/hide Map Roll-up" icon?
In answer to your questions:
a) Yes - there is nothing in the help file about Map Roll-up, but its intention is clearly to produce "dashboard" maps with roll-ups linked to one or more other maps. Because so little information has been provided about them I did some experimenting and wrote a series of articles on my blog. The first part is: https://sociamind.com/2017/01/17/mindmanager-2017s-new-features-in-action-2-dashboard-maps-2017-178-...
I realised in doing this series that there was nothing to prevent the map roll-up being used in the same map as a source topic. One thing you do have to be careful of however is that map roll-ups don't work well with map filtering, though I understand that Mindjet might be addressing this.
b) Unfortunately it appears that the only way to hide the Map Roll-up icon is to disconnect the rolled up topic which removes it entirely. This obviously means that it will no longer reflect changes in the original topic. You could copy the map as a one-off for presentation purposes and disconnect the rolled up topics in the copied map.
Edit: After creating a rolled-up topic you can save it as a map part to paste wherever you need it in the map.
