Difference between Projects and Library

What is really the difference between Projects and Library on the web (Project Director).
Or/And: why should I create a Project and not a Task list?

- Using Mindjet Files, all folders ends upp in Library
- A project in Projects ends up in Library and in Mindjet Files as a folder
- A project in Projects ends up in Tasks as a Task list.

I ́m confused.
How do you use Projects, Tasks and Library together with Mindjet Files?

I think:

The Library and Mindjet Files are the same thing. You can now see Project folders in the desktop client  (Windows and Mac) as well.

Creating a Project folder has the following benefits:

  • Its a collection of files and people associated with a project (as opposed to a folder with research or knowledge maps)

  • Only Project folders appear in the Project view (its a subset of the Library)

Creating Tasks has the following benefits:

  • Tasks have many attributes which can be used to asses how people, projects and task lists are proceeding: dates, progress, time, blocking (dependencies)

  • Task have comments, history and attachments

  • Tasks can be monitored and edited in the iOS app Mindjet Tasks

  • Tasks queries can be inserted in maps in the desktop client (I am failing miserably to do this at the moment). There is no function for doing this in the browser client that I can find.
  • You can send (create) a task in the desktop and browser client. In the desktop client I created one, updated some info in Tasks on the browser, which was repeated on the client and then the link broke. In the browser client I could not select any of my existing task lists when creating a task. I failed to create a task.

  • Using Tasks means you can monitor workloads for all projects, task list (creating a project creates a task list with the same name)

  • Use Task Lists to monitor your team although they may be working on projects you do not control or are a member of. (I think this is wishful thinking I can't find a way to do it.) The Mindjet Task Query will only allow me to select one Assignee at a time. You could create a map with a query for each member of your team.

  • You can drag tasks between task lists but not copy.

  • You can select one or more task lists and monitor them in the Calendar, Health Summary and Bubbles

What do others think?

Thanks for input!
So Projects is really nothing more than a wizad (creates a Task list) or a view (of subset of Library and Tasks).

You mention a lot of problems, e.g. broken links between task in desktop and task in browser. I do not have the same experince, it ́s working fine.

Task queries sounds veru useful. I will try it!
