The last official documentation for developers was for Mindjet 11, but is not available online as far as I know. The Mindjet Devzone is also offline. There are a few developers who lurk on this board so if you post specific questions we will try to help where possible.

thx for the info; which is discouraging to be honest. :(

for me a key question is: What is the strategy of Mindjet for the developers, for the programmability of mindmanager specifically from "outside"?

To do things like integration with office 2016, as just one example.

does anyone have a clue about this?
Currently my perception is that mindjet is abandoning developer support overall.

thx-alex

At present the COM API is available within the Windows product at no additional cost. There is currently no learning or support programme for developers. So developers tend to help each other, and Mindjet occasionally try to help with specific technical questions. The book "MindManager for Dummies" relates to a very old version of MindManager, but much of the section on macro development and the object model is still relevant.

However, if you look at the Add-Ins page in the MindManager options you can see how many features of the OTS product rely on the add-in model. This list is the reason that the API is maintained. Programming from the outside is available because the product itself uses add-ins as a convenient way to distribute development and manage functionality. When this list drops to one or two features, we are allowed to panic ;)

The MindManager 7 info is still pretty valid for version 2016 as well. Some details about the COM API workings (which works a lot like MS Office add-ins) can be found here: https://secure.mindjet.com/partners/devzone/7/devzone/Page12.html

As Nick pointed out, there's currently no program in place to educate or support developers.

Just to be sure, Have you seen all current add-ins that integrate MindManager with Office?

For example:http://www.olympic-limited.co.uk/olympic-add-ins/

What could your little tools provide as extra service?

Thx for the hints - they are for sure of value :) - if you want to get pragmatic..

However i was just curious about the futures and the opinion of Mindjet related to support of Devs in terms of up-to-date documentation.
Here i am not getting any response from Mindjet directly - officially total silence.

My current impression...

Either there is total confusion about futures of dev-support or ignorance of developer requests or ....
In either case - no active support or maintenance of dev-/api-/documentation.

My tool is a implementation of the principles for self coaching based on the following books
https://alewic.wordpress.com/stuff/infos-of-value/input-for-core/
-
It is implemented currently based on Access 2016 and implements a datadriven approach on the bottom-up and top-down aspects of selfcoaching based on the core ideas those books. For example the idea that i need for all i do (i.e. deliverables) always the next activity defined or can view all my planned stuff by location, goal, priority, latency, ...
And is integrated with the file-system, the outlook-calendar and mindmanager sometimes more, sometimes less.

For example i can export my goal-system fully into mindmanager with filters on the to-be-exported data for overall visualization and simulation :).
For this i need access to the latest object-model of Mindmanager to fully exploit all features if and as needed.

Cheers -Alexander
