Does anyone have MindManager 15 running on Windows 10?

The norm in recent years is that the latest version will run on the new new OS but Mindjet don't support it until they release a new version of MindManager. That normally happens on the the day I go on holiday.

Yes, I have mindjet running on Window 10 (64 bit).  I have experienced a small problem.

If you highlight five topics, then change the background, or sub line features, the program continues to work but causes windows to become unstable.  Net result, I have to restart windows.

This is the only program that causes a problem with Windows 10.

We are running Win 10 and Mindjet and we also have multiple customers  running version 15 and 14 on Windows 10 and have found no major showstoppers. I will certainly look into the post that Jerry mentions above and see if we can recreate this issue.

Hi,

I cannot install version 15 or 14 on Windows 10. I get an error when installing visual c++. Cannot install it manually either (x64).

Sorry to hear about the challenge.  It sounds like you did an clean install.  If so, this is a good catch.  I did an upgrade.

You may want to check this link for more information.

Or check with Microsoft Support.

On the Mindjet side, I think they should check their underlying code to make sure it is making the best use of Windows 10.

Finally, make sure you have run all the latest updates on Windows 10.  There are number of updates released in the last week.

I did a clean install of Windows 10 Enterprise on a new 500gb SSD in HP 2740p. I used the 64 bit version of Office and MindManager 15 and didn't encounter any problems. I have been using MindManager a little with some big maps which have all my Software keys, email accounts and mnemonic passwords in.

If you are looking for more space on a laptop drive here is my tip:

If you have a micro-SATA 1.8" drive you can buy an adapter and install a mSATA drive. They are cheaper (physically smaller) and higher capacity.

Hi,

Concur Jerry.

For the sake of anyone else struggling with the same problem, I have posted the resolution on my website.

I think it comes down to Mindjet needing to make a change to their install to check for and accept later versions of C++ redistributable, and not terminating the installation if it cannot install the 2010 version, as the later versions of Windows 10 supplied C++ are backwards compatible.

Great solution set Kendall, thanks.

In the meantime, I hope Mindjet is going to do a complete check of their code. I find with a major updated such as Windows 10, Microsoft has made changes that impact programs.  This is a good time to really dig and find the changes and see how they impact the program.

Just ran the solutions set proposed by Kendall, I think it works very well.  So if you have a problem installing your current version of Mindjet or a past version, try the Admin version as outlined on his web site.

I think we have a good interim solution set.

Two suggestions.

1. I found when I checked my machine it had a copy of Mindjet 14 and Mindjet 15.  This is becuase I upgraded from Mindjet 14 to 15.

My solution.

1. Use the Windows "uninstall" feature and remove Mindjet 14.

2. Look up on this threat and see the note from Kendal Morrison.  Follow his advice and download the Admin install version.  Just click on the link he provided.

I suspect if you follow both steps, you should be set.

I can assure you that Mindjet 32bit version runs on Windows 10.

Good morning,

Have a challenge with the MindJet install as well on Windows 10. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Most concerned given we have Consultants whom may possibly purchase the product in adopting our new project management methodology.

Thanks and regards,
M

The file is a Visual C++ file.

Have you tried reinstalling MindManager using the process outlined here

FYI Fresh MM15 install on new build of Win 10 64, i note despite visual C++ 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015 already being installed (from  MS visual studio and SQL server install)   MM still insisted on installing 2005 C++

No issue though MM15 apears to function, just a bit strange adopting a 10 year old version.

I've started another topic as MM did not install any add-in to Outlook 2016 (coming soon)

I did a clean install and had no problems.

I like the tip to start the Windows 10 upgrade and then revert to a clean install. Very useful for those who have to use the upgrade route.
