When Mindmanager calculate my Ressoure-Capazity, and i have enter Date, Duration, Effort and Ressource and at this same Date/Duration, the Ressource would be planed twice, the Effort would be not considered in this calculation. I know, that i can control the ressources-load with 25%,50%,75% and 100% but i want to calculate with the Effort-Time in dependency to Date/Duration. I hope you can unterstand me ;)

Hi there,

it seems the posting of psydrohne has been ignored by Mindjet :-(

The problem he mentions seems rather important to me.

Currently the over-/underutilization feature does not calculate correctly.

It does not take into account the effort information.

It still uses duration and the manually entered load of each resource.

However, "load" does not make any sense if you have defined effort.

The utilization should be calculated based on duration and effort.

Thanks for your reply and your suggestions how to proceed.

Regards

hello,

the same problem also exists in the new Mindjet!
Input of an effort has no influence to the calculation of resources.
The multiple occupancy of a resource is only over the workload controllable.

Hi,
that bothers me too. Is there any chance to correct that soon? Otherwise the time management makes no sense.
Cheers

I also have the same concerns. If a task is estimated to take 10 people-days of Effort, assigning 2 People to the task should result in a Duration of 5 days (even the units work out). I have figured out how to include Effort and Duration in my tasks, although what's the point if Duration doesn't change when assigning multiple resources.

It is possible to have Effort and Duration as separate quantities, however it's a manual process which is somewhat ridiculous because it's just open to mistakes.

I cannot understand why Mindjet does not reply to this very serious error in MindManager. The resource planning function in MindManager is totally useless. It took me some hours going back and forth to find out :-(  This issue is open for more than two years, shame on you Mindjet!

As we all may know... the Gantt view etc came originally from an add-in called JCVGantt.
Mindjet decided at integration time that not all functionality of JCVGantt was needed in their MindManager product.

There are some good reasons for that: (but they maybe not so valid anymore now there is much more knowhow and technology available today ;-)
JCVGantt only worked well if all was available on ONE desktop.
Now if your projects are managed by more people this causes synchronization problems.
And there were more issues, i don't recall at this time.

To see how JCVGantt worked with resources etc see the manual Page 87 through 90.

Maybe Mindjet finds the time to solve this as we need it.

I have recently started to use MindManager and I have also noticed the "effort issue" when checking the resource availability and also, of course, when exporting to MS Project. As it is now I don't see this software useful for project management. If I have to transfer the project information in MS Project, and then modify manually the effective work load than it is better to simply work only with MS Project.
