Exporting a single topic (plus children) to an MS Project file

How can I export/convert just ONE topic (and its children) to an MS project file?

I am keeping many different items with task information for several different releases in a map.

Now I want the data pertaining to ONE release (i.e. a single subtree of my map-file) into a .mpp file to start from there.

Right now it seems I can only export the ENTIRE map (which is pointless to me, since I keep lots of other stuff in that map as well or ALL ITEMS CONTAINING TASK INFORMATION, which is similar pointless, since it covers multiple releases. I just want to dump the info for ONE release to the .mpp file.

Do I really have to first extract that subtree to a new map and then export from that new map?

Hope I could make myself clear...

Hi Michael apply a View Filter >F4 to the Topic, export the filtered map to MSP

Thanks - that did the trick! I hadn't been aware of this F4 filtering any more. I guess I need to re-learn all these navigation shortcuts again. I once was good with MM and knew many of them but that knowledge faded away with the advent of the ribbons...

Cheers!

Colin has hit the question on the head but you may also find these useful in your revision.

If there is more than one sub-tree to export: You can select them, Filter: Show Topics and export.

You will see the parent topics in the export, so using F4 a few time may be more useful.

The easy way to "extract a sub tree" is to Select the parent topic: Right click and Send to New Map.
