Exporting tasks in MindManager to TaskManager - problems

I have exported the tasks in MindManager 2012 to Connect, in order to pull through the Tasks onto Task Manager. In doing this, it has converted ALL my topics into Tasks, assigning me as a resources for them, as well as the few tasks actually created in the map. Has anyone else seen this happen, and what is the fix please?

There are two options for exporting from MindManager to Tasks: selected topics selected topics and their subtopics.

Did you check which of the two options you chose and what topics were selected at the time of the export?

When exporting, you might want to use the Power Filter function first to select the topics with task info and then choose the export to Mindjet Tasks.

Hi - thanks for your response.

It feels like a bug if a task export converts topics to tasks, rather than just export the tasks within a topic, but your workaround seems to work. It does mean I have to force a 'start date' even if I don't have one yet, in order to do a power filter, to export just the items which are tasks. Any other thoughts would be useful.

Thanks.

Yes, I agree that it might be a bit counter intuitive but good to hear that the work around works for you.

I usually mark a topic as a task by assigning a Task Completeness icon of 0% to the topic. The Power Filter is able to select all the topics which have any Task Completeness icon assigned and this might remove the need for a start date?

At what point would you expect the app to consider your topic a task? In other words, what would indicate to the computer that you want to send it over?

Hi - As soon as I allocate a task to someone, I would assume it was a task, if I were to export tasks. Presently, I need to mark it as 0% complete too in order to be able to do a power filter (Mathieu's excellent workaround) - but this feels counter-intuitive for 2 reasons.
1. Assigning a task to someone should give them the opportunity to report on that task, and often that task is already started. It feels offensive/ sloppy to mark it as either 0% done, or to randomly mark it with a best guess as the task owner is obviously best placed to answer this.
2. I would like to be able to just easily export tasks, without any filtering. So, in any topic where any task was assigned, this is all that I would expect to have exported - presently, all topics are exported I believe, whether it has tasks or not?.

I hope that helps?

Allie.
