I would like to be able to copy only the visible topics and call outs from a map and to paste them in another map or RTF document.

Is this possible?
If not can it be emulated via a macro? (an quick example will help :-) )

Edit: exporting only the above would be OK if the info can be taken from there

Apparently the only thing that is missing is copying the call outs when copying to a rich text editor. How can I copy the call outs (I use these to sum up the topic)

Have you tried using the export feature? (e.g. export to word?) It exports the callouts too.

Also, in the current version, if you just copy the central topic and paste it into Word, it'll paste all the visible topics and their call-outs. Is that not the same for you in the version you're working with?

Ups, sorry I used the wrong term, somehow I was under the impression that the summary topic is a call out topic

So my question should refer to summary topics not to call out topics
Yes you are correct the call outs are copied, but summary topics are not
I also tried exporting to web and it did not work

Ah, good distinction. I just exported a map to word. In the export options there was an option to include callouts. I enabled the option. The export did include the summary topic/callout. I even tested it with subtopics branching off the summary topic. They were exported too.

Does the word export & its options work for you?

Yes it does export the call outs, and summary topics but it also exports all the hidden topics :(

If you want to export only selected topics (including main/parent/summary topics but not their subtopics), have a look at the WordX add-in from Olympic Ltd. Although the WordX default is to assume that all topics and subtopics are to be exported you can select manually which are to be included in the export and which are not; when the map is exported to Word only the selected topics will appear in the document.

You can also assign different heading levels and other Word styles to individual topics and subtopics, even at the same level which makes WordX very versatile (and no, I'm not connected to Olympic Ltd).

I ended up writing a dirty Python script that does the work for me.  I needed these in HTML in the end ... I was hoping that  a copy and paste will save me some hours
