How do I get new topics (that are entered using the Enter key) to align left below each other?

Hello

When we use a "Free Form" map, we can enter each new, unconnected topic just by typing in the topic title followed by the Enter key. Each time you hit Enter, new topic is created underneath the previous topic. (This is great, btw!)

But all the new topics are CENTERED underneath each other, which looks messy. How can I get the new topics to all align TO THE LEFT underneath each other, when they are being created?

Note: I have my topic size set to "Automatic topic size".

Cheers

J

PS I tried editing the Theme for Floating Topics, but under the Alignment tab the "Text alignment" is already to the left...

Yes, it doesn't seem possible to edit the theme to do this.

Of course you can left align the topics in the actual map, but you have to do this either every time you add a topic or when you have finished entering all of them.

The only other option I can suggest is edit the theme to make the topic standard width, which means that the topics will be aligned on both sides - while actually being centre-aligned.

Well.. You can align them via the format ribbon (layout) as Alex said. Select them all and use the function you like.

This works the same as when you had inserted floating topics in a -normal - map but there they are left aligned from the start.

I understand you use MindManager for a very special purpose.... beware to keep in mind that the maps should work for you and you should not always work on the layout of your maps (quote from Tony Buzan RIP)

Thank you Ary & Alex.

Disappointing.  Given the enormous amount of configurability of MindManager, it does seem like a strange weakness but hey-ho.

A fair point. But there's the rub: Being semi-dyslexic, I am an extremely visual person and I find it hard to think straight when a layout is "shouting" at me to be changed, and what I am trying to do is to avoid my endlessly going:
Select topics  > Format tab >  Align >  Left Align
...just so that I can get my head straight!

I may end up using  fixed widths of topics, but only if I find that I have to because the way I am using topics (Free Form template, with X-Y positions being of central importance) my screen 'real-estate' space is too valuable to waste on fixed width topics, unless I find that I have to!
