How to reduce size of HTML5 exported file? (MM18)

Even with a small map (260KB) and even when I delete some images and icons from the map and further reduce the file size, the exported HTML5 sticks at 2300KB. I want to use the map in a context that won't accept files over 2MB. What would I need to trim or change to have a smaller exported HTML5 file size?

I understand you share your html5 maps as attachment to your audience. Although I have no solution for your filesize issue, you could consider the Publish facilty. With that you can share with anyone. Password protected for your audience.

Thanks, the use case here is to embed in an iframe on a corporate intranet Jive page, which works very well but won't accept objects over 2 MB. What I still would like to understand is why the HTML5 is so much bigger than the source map and if there is any trick I can use to get it under 2 MB which almost seems to be a threshold unrelated to the map size.
