I have a project plan with multiple resources and filters etc

I would like to filter on a resource or a delivery type and to calculate the days for that filter not the entire project

Hi Ian,

If I understand your question correctly you want to roll up the duration or effort for a specific resource based on a filter, so for example if you had three resources in a map named, say, AB, CD and EF, you would like to be able to find the total just for AB.

This is possible with the MAP add-in, though there is a proviso; only one resource can be allocated to each task. If this is the case you can use the following process with either Duration or Effort.

The first step is to use MAP's Extended Properties feature to add either Duration or Effort as a topic property. You can add either as a property with units ranging from minutes to months, though for most purposes days will be fine. Obviously the selected property has to be added to every task in the map.

Then go either to the central topic or the parent topic where you want the total to be summed and create the following formula (assuming you are using Duration in days): [DurationTotal]=SUM(Descendants[Duration Days (#TDdays)]). This will sum all the duration days in descendant tasks.

Then filter the map for the specific resource you want, making sure beforehand that in the overall Options setting for the map that Fade non-matching topics is unticked (this is because unlike those hidden by a filter, faded topics are included in formulas). The total in the central or parent topic should change to show just the sum of duration days for the selected resource.
