I would like to print the outline view of the map. When I do that it prints it with the images and the markers and I just want the words.

Use View > Show/Hide in the Detail section in Map mode and the Word export. You can turn various features off.

Alternatively try using View > Show/Hide in the Detail section in Map mode and this may also control what is printed in the Outline. But I failed when I tried this.

That's interesting - I had assumed that turning off icons in Show/Hide in the Detail section of the View tab in map view would also turn them off in the Outline view, but it doesn't.

Furthermore this option is greyed out in Outline view and while it is possible to untick the icon/marker box in the header and remove them from view this has no effect on the printed version, with the icons reappearing.

One option is remove the icons from view as described above when in Outline view, then select the whole outline and copy it to Word and print the resulting document from there.
