How do you give up to date access to team members for non map files

For instance:

You can upload a spreadsheet to Connect and link to it from a map (20 in this case).

When you access the link, the Excel file is downloaded to your PC.

You can view it and edit it.

You can upload it back to the original folder but not replace the existing file.

You can delete the original and rename the new one to the original name.

BUT the link from all the maps will not work because the new map has a new URL.

Any suggestions?

Is there a check in and check out for non-map files?

If you do not mind doing this in a browser, you can store in Sky Drive and get a hosted Excel file. http://explore.live.com/skydrive

SkyDrive does the trick and gives the client a familiar UI when editing the spreadsheet.

Andrew - you can also give this a shot:

1. Check Out the document by selecting the file and choose ‘Check-out’.
2. Download to a local folder on your machine.
3. Edit the file and save.
4. Go back to Connect, click on the file name of the checked out document and choose ‘Check In’.
5. Upload the locally saved copy back to Connect.

The URL of the file should stay the same.
