How to convert old MindManager 4.0 maps to more current format?

I found an old map that I had created back in 2001 that has some vital information on it but I no longer have access to the machine that had 4.0 installed. I've tried using X5 and newer versions but none seem to load it, much less convert it.

Is there any way to get my maps back?

I just used File > Open to open a .mmp file in Mindjet 11.
It worked as it has done with all versions since X5 for me.

Yes, Simple opening of the map should do the trick. Once opened you can apply a new template to the map or use MindManager 's design functionality to update the map.

Alternatively you can use use a ready made template or shapes from our present selection of specialised templates found at www.modi4maps.com

I don't know what happened to it but I ended up finding another backup I had that had the .mmp instead of the .mmap extension the original had and it worked so who knows. Thanks.
