I was invited to mindjet connect from a coworker and now I am trying to become an owner so I can create new maps and invite others but I cannot figure out how to do so. I tried editing my profile from the home page and then sign into connect.mindjet and it still did not change. Please help.

Have you tried uploading your own maps and then attempted to share those with other people? Or what is happening when you try to share maps? Any additional information would be helpful in better understanding the limitations you are experiencing. Thank you.

Hi Brittney. Below is a screen shot of what I see when I log into Mindjet Connect. I can't create any maps to save and upload to share them. Is it because I am listed as a guest? Can Emily, the owner, change my permissions so that I am an owner and can create new maps?

Hi Niki,
Assuming your colleague is using a Basic (vs. Business) account then yes as a guest you don't have the permissions to create your own content. You can get more info on permissions from the Help file at http://onlinehelp.mindjet.com/help/MJ... and look for the section titled "Understand account roles"

With that said, to achieve your goal of being able to create your own content and share it then you can ask your colleague to upgrade to a business account where she can then make you a "member" which allows you to create and share your own content.

Or you can sign up for your own Basic account where you will become the owner...however there is unfortunately a catch... :(

If you would like to do the latter and you would like to use the same e-mail address as the one you have with your colleague's account, presently I am sad to say that we have a bug in our basic sign up flow, which we are fixing. The bug is that when you go to our Basic Sign Up form, once you enter your e-mail we recognize you as an existing user and prompt you to log in, in this case, to your colleague's account.

Sorry I don't have a better, instantly gratifying, no cost answer for you but we know it's a problem with our sign up process and are actively working to resolve it.

Hope that helps a little at least.

Hi Scott. Thank you for your reply. That is exactly the issue I am having and it is helpful to know that it is just an issue with the system so I don't keep trying and trying different things. Would it be possible to reply to this thread when the issue is resolved? That way I know I can log back on to create my maps?

Thanks for your help!

Hello. I haven't received any other response to determine if this has been fixed yet.

Hi NIki - I've recently fallen off the Community radar and so I did not see your posts. Here is the latest update on where we stand.

No it is not fixed.

However, in a few weeks we will be releasing a significant update to the service, where among other things, every user (like you) will automatically become an owner of a basic account. You will simply log in with the existing credentials you use to to access your colleagues account today. When you do, you will see another account that we've provisioned for you.

Pre-announcements should start rolling out fairly soon. Sorry we didn't get an interim fix out sooner but hopefully you can stick with us just a little while longer. We look forward to your feedback once the next release is out shortly.

Cheers,
Scott
