huge dependency problem!!!

Five years ago, there was a problem with MM 11 and Esther van Wijngaarden writed this here:

The date of a dependent task should be updated automatically, when you change the startdate of the previous task later in time (and it is a finish to start dependency).

But when you change the date of the previous task earlier in time, the date of the dependent task does not change (because it still starts after the other task has finished). If you want to start it immediately after the previous task, you have to change the date of the dependent task yourself.

Perhaps an idea for new release to always start dependent tasks immediately after the previous tasks ends, without any delay (in finish to start dependencies)?

Now we got 2017 and it seems, that this problem isnt solved!!
Couse, I got exactly this problem (and destroyed my time chain completly!!)!!

Or am I riding on a dead horse?

When you move a task back (to a later date), then any successor tasks are also pushed back. But when you bring it forwards (to an earlier date), successor tasks stay at the same date. This is normal for project scheduling tools and is not really a defect. As you say, the project still meets the constraints of the dependencies. Instead of manually changing start dates, you can use the "Remove slack time" command, which will remove dead time between dependent tasks and bring them forwards without manually adjusting dates.

Assuming you are not using the Enterprise edition, it is next to the Gantt button in the Task tab (in the English Language version at least).
