Improve Map Export Features

I would like to see better support for exporting map content to Word and PowerPoint. Virtually every day I create maps for client's that need to be exported to Word or PowerPoint for distribution. The export abilities today produce documents that require extensive formatting before they can be distributed.

Why would the export settings be saved for all maps? Wouldn't it make sense to save these on a per map basis? I have different export settings for each map...

Hi Bob,

We have an add-in to MindManager which provides an alternative to the MindManager export for MS Word.

You can find details and download a 14 day trial here:
http://www.olympic-limited.co.uk/opti...

It lets you manage different templates and apply them to maps as well as apply styles without being restricted to 1 style per topic level.

Sorry, we do not have anything for Powerpoint......yet!!

Bob,

I'll second Nigel's comments re Olympic Limited's Opti-Word. It's a great product which gives you far more control over the export to Word process.

I'm disappointed with the export to PowerPoint option in MM9 and MM2012. It is easier to use than the version in MM8 but the latter gave you far more control. I've virtually given up on it for now.

Nigel, I like the sound of that "yet" in relation to PowerPoint export. Do you have anything in the pipeline?

I will however give Mindjet a pat on the back for including the ability to export to Excel in MM2012. This seems to work reasonably well.

Oh no. what have I set in motion now :-)

I have yet to look at the powerPoint API but if its worse than the Word one it could be some time before anything gets done from Olympic's side.

I'm hoping to look at another add-in and PP might be something we could investigate. I'll keep you posted but please don't anyone hold their breath :-)

Ah well, consider it as your next challenge!

I do think Mindjet have missed the mark on this. The main problem is the inability to change the size of the MM slide to include more than an arbitrary number of sub-topics. This flows through to exports to PowerPoint either as MM objects or as bullet point, with the sub-topics being cut off, so that if say you have 15 sub-topics the last two or three may simply disappear.

It would be great to be able to combine the fexibility of Opti-Word sub-topic selection and formatting with greater fexibility about what to include in each slide.
