When Exporting some Outlook email to MM I am getting this error;

MM was unable to save the current topic's notes because the notes contain invalid HTML

are there restrictions on type of email allowed to be brought into MM?

Hi Peter. Are you running the latest version of MindManager? There was an update that was released, we are on 10.1.459. If you have not done the update yet, please do so. If the problem persists, let me know. Thank you!

Hi Peter. Thank you for the update. It sounds like there may be an issue with some of the coding in the emails that you are trying to sync with MindManager. MindManager supports simple HTML formatting. Please feel free to contact our support team at customer.support@mindjet.com. They will be able to look into this in more detail for you.

It kind of makes this feature useless if it doesn't work when someone else sends you a bad message.

I actually got the Invalid NTML message on an email from Mindjet, entited "Productivity is just around the corner"

I'm receiving the same error when copying/pasting plain text (no HTML) content from Notepad. In my case, the error was being thrown because the plain text included a character that displays in Notepad like this:

I wasn't able to turn up any info on this character using Google or Character Map. I did learn that the content in Notepad had been pasted there from the "bottom notes" of a PowerPoint 2010 slide. My guess is it's some sort of "end-of-line" character that's not visible in PowerPoint, but shows up when the content is pasted into Notepad.

At any rate, once I removed those strange characters from the Notepad text and re-copied/pasted the content from Notepad into my MindMap's Note, I was able to save the MindMap without error.

Hope this info helps someone!

P.s. I'm running MindManager 2012 for Windows, v10.1.459

Will the fix be available on 2012 (version 10.2, as it is also known)?

is 2012 not being sustained? If a user has a bug it will not be worked on?
I have fairly regular occasions when 2012 just freezes, I just have had not had time to collect all the data and report it.
Is it worth reporting bugs on 2012?

Mick, we have released several updates to MindManager 2012 over the course of the last year. While our focus is primarily on the next version, we still encourage you to report any issues that you are encountering. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support!

Hi Michael. The HTML issue had been reported since long before version 11 came out., is it safe to assume that wont be addressed in the 2012 version?
I am happy to put the time into collecting data and describing the intermittent hang in v2012, but i dont want to waste my time.

Yes, we're aware of this specific issue for v2012 so there is no reason to report it. If we produce another version of 2012 for any number of reasons, we'd consider porting over this fix among others. I meant to say that if you continue to find other issues that may not have been reported, it's worthwhile to submit them.

Thanks again!

Customer Feedback:

With all due respect, rich text formatting has been supported by Mindjet for some time.

For example, some marketing material regarding Mindjet 6 stated under Key Features:
"Notes
Support Topics with rich text, images and tables using a re-sizable window."

Perhaps copying from email isn't explicitly mentioned, but it's not unreasonable to consider this a valued feature worth supporting. I've been copying Outlook email content into Mindjet Notes for years now - as I suspect most of your user base do.

The map I've been working on over the past 12 months has dozens of topics with extensive notes copied from Outlook - including tables and images.

It's only something I've added recently which has caused the issue to surface - I'm back tracking to try to get back to a stable state.

I've narrow the issue down to a portion of the pasted
content - a table and some text - can't recall whether it was from Excel or an
email.

This was pasted into a number of topics. After adding
anything beyond this offending content, the alert would pop up about a problem
with the HTML and  MindManager would
remove that  added text. Unfortunately,
it didn't recognize what cause the problem.

My workaround was to paste the problem table/text into
Notepad to strip any formatting. I can live without this part of the topic
being formatted.

I am still using Mind Manager Professional 2012 (10.2.404) because it works for me. I primarily use it for research. But I occasionally run into the issue of "MindManager was unable to save the current topic's notes because the notes contain invalid HTML" when I paste a web content into Notes. Some years back I found a keyboard combination to remove the offending code, but forgot what the combination was. I found a way to get around the "Invalid HTM" error by first pasting the content into Microsoft WordPad (which fortunately comes free with every version of Windows) and then copying the content into Mind Manager Notes. So if you run into the issue try pasting into WordPad first and then copying the content into Mind Manager Notes. Again  that has worked for me so far. WordPad also pretty much retains all the formatting. Mind Manager is an extremely useful software, it still gets 5 stars despite the little glitch.
