Ipad Files Read-Only with Mindjet Connect

I have the Ipad app that is signed in with the Mindjet Connect online account. I can open/edit the online files on the Mindjet Connect and all changes are automatically synced with my Ipad. The problem is when I try and edit the same file on my ipad it says it is in Read-Only and forces me to save the file I just edited to another name.

Please tell me there is some way I will not have to keep renaming the file every time I edit it on my Ipad?

Re: Ipad Files Read-Only with Mindjet Connect
I have exactly the same issue. The app worked perfectly well until the update. Now I can't edit maps on the iPad, and I've had to suspend using the app, it's become more or less useless.

Even if I try to amend a map and save it locally, the app instead saves a copy of a different map with the wrong name, and loses my changes. I can't find any way to work around the problems. It would be great if I could just go back to the old version.

Re: Ipad Files Read-Only with Mindjet Connect
Maps that are saved in Mindjet Connect can be downloaded and edited on the iPad, but cannot be uploaded back to Connect at this point in time. We are currently working on increasing the functionality of the application, so that you can edit and save maps back to Connect.

I ran into the same problem that you are having with saving maps locally as well. Here is my suggested workflow: When you edit a map in Connect, you are forced to save it locally or to the root folder. Before switching folders, tap the X button located on the upper right hand side of the screen. This will allow you to save the map you have just edited without saving a copy of a different map.

Give it a try and let me know how it works for you. Stay tuned for future iPad releases as we continue to improve.

Not being able to edit "on the fly" with the Ipad is completely against the whole cloud idea.

So please update the apps asap.

Hi Esther. Version 2.5 of the iPhone/iPad was released on February 14. Be sure to check for updates on your mobile devices. You now have complete round tripping of maps between Mobile iOS and Connect. I hope that this helps to answer your inquiry. Please let me know how this works for you!

Thanks for your prompt feedback. Unfortunately, I'm on 2.5 and I'm encountering these problems with a map that I created from scratch only yesterday. Mark

Can you explain exactly what is happening so that I can best understand the issue and why it might be happening? Thank you Mark. I look forward to your response.

Hi Brittney. I've just created a new one from scratch. something slightly different happened.

Created simple MindMap using latest MindManager professional in windows 7 desktop.
Saved file Test for Brittney) to mindjet connect.
Opened file in iPad and was SUCCESSFULLY able to edit it.
Closed it in iPad
Opened it on desktop. It was all intact, but was READ ONLY.

This was different to what happened yesterday where I couldnt edit the file on the iPad

Hello again Mark. I am currently in conversation with a few of our product managers regarding this. Can I get a detailed description of the steps that you took. For instance, what you first opened the map on, if you closed the map on one device before you opened it on another device, etc. Thank you so much!

I hadn't opened my app in a while, so I'm not sure when this started, but I had about five maps that I started and worked on intermittently with the iPad app and were saved on DropBox (in the Mindjet folder only). This morning I went to open the app and look at one of the maps but all of my files are marked as locked/read only.
I see many forum messages that Mindjet Connect can't be saved to, but did you take away that save ability with DropBox? I don't have Mindmanager open on any of my other machines that would be holding even one of these files open.
I don't know where to start but I'd hate to have to start saving multiple versions and manually deleting the old ones or manually merging them. Any ideas or has anyone else seen this before?
Thank you!
Eliz

Hi Eliz. I would first try checking the file attribute in DropBox. If you access your DropBox folder labeled Mindjet on your desktop computer, right click on the maps that are in a locked state on the iPad. Select "Properties." Is the "Read Only" portion checked? This may be why you are experiencing this problem. If it is not checked, I would recommend contacting DropBox support as they will be able to best assist you. Thank you for your inquiry.

Somehow this managed to clear itself up, though I'm still a bit fuzzy on the 'how'. The file I was first opening ot edit (and was read only) was suddenly available a little while later. Then that night all the files were available as editable again. Not sure what happened, but I'll chalk it up to a fluke until it happens again, if at all.
Thank you!

I have latest versions of MindJet Manager 2012 and the iPad application.

Yesterday, I wanted to move some older maps up to Mindjet Connect. I opened the map in Mindjet Manager and saved to Mindjet Connect. Of the maps that I processed in this way I can only edit two of them on the iPad. The others have a padlock on the icon and are readonly. Best I can tell I treated them all the same when moving them to Mindjet Connect.

Why would they be different. How can I make them all editable on iPad.

Looks like I have resolved my problem. Opened the map from Mindjet Connect in MindJet Manager, made a change, saved back to Connect. Refreshed the file list on iPad and now it can be edited.

Hi
Just lot a whole lot of changes using the ipad and the Mindjet connect. I assumed (wrongly it seems) that any changes I do on the ipad would synch with the Mindjet connect on my Laptop - otherwise why have a cloud version???

Very disappointing

I have the same issue. I saved a map to connect and can only access it read only on the iPad. I tried making the change in 2012 and then re-saving it to connect and the same issue. This is very frustrating.
