I have an Excel spreadsheet that I use in conjunction with a MindManager 2016 mind map. In the map, I have topics with custom properties. I'd like to read the values stored within the topics' custom properties and use those values in calculations in the associated Excel spreadsheet.
Is that possible?

While this is possible with MAP if you want to pull an Excel cell value into a Custom Property it is not currently possible to take an Extended Property created by MAP and feed that into Excel.
I'm looking at this for Ashok at the moment and I hope that we will be able to provide this functionality soon.
Regards
Nigel

Apologies - Ashok didn't clarify in his original post that he was talking about Extended Properties. I thought by "custom properties" in the context of Excel he meant the Excel properties that you can create using MAP. These certainly can be synced in both directions between MM and Excel, which is a great feature.
There is one small issue at the Excel end, however. If you do edit the Excel topic property at the MM end and sync it to Excel, the modified file appears in the Excel Document Recovery pane. This isn't fatal but it is a bit distracting.

Nigel, while we are on this subject, do you know if it is possible to access the properties of a Google search map part to do the same thing? I'd love to be able to sync the "Look for" field with an Excel cell. This would also make it easier to add Google search parameters such as daterange to a search in MM (I've set up a calculator in Excel to convert dates to the daterange format; Google somewhat perversely only takes numeric values based on Julian calendar dates).

I will have a look at this when I review the situation. I am hoping that it will be possible to push most Custom Properties of differing types into Excel so they can be used for calculation and then fed back to the Map.
I will keep the thread updated with any progress. Just wrapping up a MAP 2.01 interim release early this week and then should be able to slot some time to start the review.

Thanks Nigel. I'm looking forward to 2.01 - can you divulge what new goodies we can expect?

Its only an interim update to address a reported bug and a couple of enhancements, plus the addition of a function to split Topics using a delimiter.
The enhancements are the addition of a Custom Properties and Formulas to the Map Sweep function so these can be cleaned across a selection or the entire Map.
I'm hoping this release will be available in the next day or so.

Great - I'm happy you're including the split topic delimiter, which I think arose out of the discussion that G ks and I had about importing large amounts of formatted text.
There's another minor suggestion for a future version of MAP which I keep forgetting to make, which is in relation to the topics to date facility. Would it be possible to have something like an every week, fortnight or four weeks option - or alternatively be able to do this in terms of every x number of days? I suspect that doing every calendar month or quarter would also be problematic but even the ability to do this on a per x number of days or x number of weeks basis would be great.
