Is it possible at all to put multiple images on a single topic like you can with Icons?

I started using the Icons on a map but then discovered the image library options to be much more accurate for an icon/legend usage on my map.

I have update the Legend to show all the images instead of icons.
I understand I will have to manually copy, paste, and resize those images down to the 40x40 preference each time I want to add them to a topic.

However, I have some topics where I'd like to put two images.
In my current map, I'm using the images to show what Departments or Areas of a Software product would be impacted (Shipping, Customer Accounts, Workflow, Security, Payment Processing etc.).

I wanted to add Workflow and Security images to a topic and seem to be unable to. Am I overlooking a setting or shortcut or other functionality?
Or is there really no way to do this?

Not on the topic but you can add multiple images into the topic's note.

I suppose you can always combine the images into a single image using software apps like Snagit and then place the combined single image into the topic. This may be worth the effort if it's a map that you'll use ongoing, present with, etc...

The mix and matching of images would be unique per topic for only a handful of maps getting used on this project. so making snagit clips of every possible combination would not be a reasonable use of time.

I might have something I could use to create icons from the images, but where are the images stored? (These are the ones provided by Mindjet. I don't have images of my own created, nor really an ability to do so)

There might be icon packs that you could purchase or download (e.g. http://doodlekit.imagiag.com/). Icons are better if you want multiple per topic.

There are 2 options to add icons to the mindjet library

1) go to the library select icons, click on => add icon. You will then immediately see where the icons are stored on youre computer. So you could place them there using the explorer.

2) go under =>file menu to => options => package folders => new .
be sure to select icons to avoid confusion.

These are functions any certified trainer should have told you. If you want to become a power user, go to find a trainer section => support on the mindjet website

I'm sorry but I do have to comment otherwise on your last statements here.

I'm a solo user. I've never had a certified training and don't have enough of a need (or funding) to justify hiring one.

I can understand that you may have intended your last statements as a way to promote your own vocation, but it comes across more condescending and presumptuous then helpful.

The forums are the place for individuals to ask the user community for guidance or assistance.

Implying someone (that doesn't even exist) has failed to do their job (that never occurred) with me because I'm using the forum for its intended purpose is just not going to benefit anyone or shine a positive light on the services.

Unfortunately it is not possible for me to delete my intentions to help you.
I want to delete them since I don't want to be offended by freeloaders. who are afraid to show their face.

I was able to find a program I had could convert the MM images into icons and then I moved that new folder structure under the Icon location I found under my user's AppData folder.. I left the images under the "Legend" on my map, as they are larger and easier to see, but now I can add them as icons to the topics in smaller formats to save space. I think this will work well for my current needs.

I'll have to look at what the Package Folders screen/configuration involves.
Thank you.

I use IconFX to create icons for MindManager and Mindjet
http://www.applications.cabre.co.uk/2...

However icons are a fixed size and may not suit your purpose.

An alternative is to add images as Subtopics. By adjusting topic shape and spacing you may be able to get a work around.

Thank you very much.

Having icon versions of the Images has actually worked out quite well.
I have a Floating Group Legend like in the screen clip above using the larger image, then I can add icons in any single or multiple combination to a topic and the visual match up is an easy comparison/match-up.

The subtopic work may work well for other projects, but this method for this project allows for seeing which major topics impact which departments without having to have each section expanded out.

I see that you have adopted my suggestions in full, so apologies should be in place. Do you have any plans to offer your sincere apologies to me for your remarks above?

Hi Ary, I would send this privately but I don't see a way to do that on the profile views.
I had already thanked you for your assistance in this message. I used the others' tips for how to change the MindManager images into icons. I already knew how to add icons individually, and I found the AppData directory location to move the folder of converted icons into the Icon Library. I'm still planning on looking more into the Package folder settings of the software.
I'm sorry you feel that an apology is required, but I don't see where one would be necessary for my remarks. I had said I understood that your intentions were good and honest with your assistance and acknowledged that, but I was trying to suggest using an alternate phrasing in the future regarding your last comments.
But then you only followed up with derogatorily referring to me to as a "freeloader who is afraid to show [my] face" simply because (a) I'm a regular non-commercial user of the MindManager software who cannot afford training and chooses to use the public support tools that MindJet created and promotes for its user community to take advantage of, without pressure or guilt.
and (b) As a regular user of the internet, I choose to not post personal information or my picture on every public site I ever create an account on. It's not fear, it's simply good internet practice, to know when it serves a purpose to share private information and when it is not necessary to do so.
I meant no insult to you or the profession of certified trainers and did not disregard the information you provided. I still plan to look into the Package Folders section of the software settings to learn more about how that fits into this or possibly future uses. I am glad to have heard about that, as it had been an area I previously just ignored thinking it must relate to third party tie-ins or just a functionality that I didn't use.
So I guess I do apologize if that was unclear, but after your follow up comment, I was going to just leave it be and not get pulled into a back and forth, until I saw these follow up comments today. You may remove this comment from the public forum or I will if requested to, but I did not want to leave this hanging out there.
I wish you and yours well on both personal and professional sides, through this season and the new year.

If you are using icons or images to encode information rather than as an illustration, then icons will work better because you can use map filtering and the marker index to keep track of them. You can also rename them in the Map Markers task pane. By contrast, images in topics are static, and their meaning is not interpreted by the software.

Agree with Nick on the filtering aspects of icons.

If images are what you require then they can be marked up using tag markers and then the functionality described by Nick can also be used. The tag markers can be hidden using View > Show/Hide.

It's also possible to use "hidden" topic text which has the same colour as the Topic Fill Colour.
