hi, i have the new, and want to replace the old in a VM of Windows 8.1 Pro Preview and it's not working Scotty. I keep getting the error message attached when I try to install 12 or uninstall 9. MM12 gets almost all the way thru the install and then barfs. The link to \vmware-host\shared folders\desktop works fine in the windows environment, just not with the MM installer or uninstaller. Not sure what else to do but blow away this win image and start fresh. arg.

Could it be that the location of you Windows desktop is in a Shared Folder in VMWare?

This is a general Windows Installer error and not directly related to Mindjet, have a look at this solution by Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549

Hope this helps!

thx all, there was one file that was "locked" in the mindjet subdir structure, that after I used the nifty tool Unlocker, I was able to delete that stuck file, and then the install went well after that. Life is good.
