Keyboard shortcut to step back through Show Branch Alone sequence?

In an earlier MM version, I recall that you could step back through your current F4 "branch alone"  sequence with a single keystroke combination (F4 + ?). This was a really convenient way of zooming in and out. Now all you have is the "Show 1 level up" in the drop-down menu. This really breaks the flow, because it can require 3 separate keystrokes to get there: (1) to View menu from wherever you are; (2) Drop the menu down; (3) Click back.  Not so slick or efficient in work sessions,  if you want to execute this clunky manoeuvre several times in a row.

Toggling F4 back to the full map is clearly useful sometimes, but by no means always. I'd say it's 50:50. Backtracking a topic drill-down sequence is the best way of maintaining your orientation and efficiency, especially when the map is large and F4 back to whole map leaves your audience looking at an unreadable graphic.

Am I right about the current state of affairs? Any workaround or solution envisaged? Presentation walk through doesn't quite meet the same need either, IMHO.

With thanks, as always.

David

Yes, I think you're right about the Show One Level Up not having a keyboard shortcut...
Could you achieve the same flow using the F3 command (Focus On Topic) ?

Thanks for your thought, Mathieu.

I double-checked and no: unfortunately, while F3 is helpful for opening and zooming onto a tree of subordinate topics (children), it doesn't operate in any way to back track any Branch Alone sequence. For that, you're stuck with a menu-driven option to go one level up or else a complete jump back to the whole map with the more convenient F4.

Best wishes,

David

Had not known about that function, but will use it now. I tried to add it to my quick-access toolbar, and was only able to add the Branch menu - so It reduced the steps to two. . Not a perfect solution, but a bit better. It does not work on the presentation walk through mode.

Further, If it is on your quick-access bar, you can use the Alt key to get to the menu quickly, one press of the down arrow and enter will open it real quick, if you prefer a keyboard only option. (Moved mine up in the customized menu so it is now Alt >6>DownArrow. I learned quickly not to press them at the same time. )
