Linking Maps & Retaining Third Level Visibility & Gant Chart Functionality?

I am currently using mindjet to map and plan a project. Due to the scale of the project I will need to break down key areas e.g. Research, Analysis, Recommendations etc into separate maps to allow for the detail to be included.

Is there a way I can link the subtopics from the main map but retain the third level information in the master and the ability to export the entire project into a gant chart - rather then having to do this for each individually?

Hi Kelly. What version of MindManager are you using and on what platform? That information would be helpful. Thank you!

Brittney can you pease provide some further advice on this? It is critical that I can separate these maps as they are getting exceptionally large. I am on windows using 2012. Thank you.

Hi Kelly,

Unfortunately, the only alternative I can think of is to use the "Send To > New Linked Map" feature. However, by separating sections of the map via hyperlinks does not keep the Gantt Chart intact.

I do realize that having a map with a lot of content can be overwhelming, I recommend using Markers & Filters to focus on particular attributes such as departments, phases, milestones, deliverables, etc. Therefore, you never need to look at the map in its entirety. The Gantt chart will also filter to show you those tasks within the filter's criteria.

Please refer to this older tutorial on how to use Tags & Markers :

Create parent and child maps using Right click > Send to new map as suggested.

Open the parent map in Linked Map view.
Select the depth in maps you want to got to.
Select All.
Use Combine All which a creates a new snapshot map of all the maps.
Export to MS Project and check out the Gantt chart.

Edit individual maps to make changes and repeat.

Or make the MS Project file the current master, edit and import back to MindManager later.
