Logical grouping/opening of maps

I've created 4 maps (so far) that are logically associated to a large corporate project I'm driving. I would like to be able to open them all (and any others I create in conjunction) with a single OPEN event. How do I group them together to do that?

I have 4 or more maps open when I shut down MindManager using the red X in the upper right corner.  All 4 open simultaneously when I start MindManager again.

I think macro could be written to do this. Then edit it as you add maps to the list or point it at text file listing the maps. View ribbon > Macros.

Here are some alternatives:

First I would suggest ticking this setting in Options:

  • File  - Options - Reopen last open local maps on startup

MindManager will the reopen with your last set of maps. So this is a single open event.

Second I would suggest:
  • Creating an index map with links to all the maps you wish to open. Dragging and dropping them from File Explorer on to the index map is an easy way to create this.
  • Add the index map to My Maps - Maps Shortcuts
When you want to open all these maps:
  • Open the index map
  • View ribbon - Linked Maps (you can add this to the Quick Access Toolbar)
  • Select All (you can add this to the Quick Access Toolbar)
  • Right click a map - Open (this will open all the selected maps)
Not a single open event but useful when you have more than one index map or open any map in this view which is linked to others.

If you want to reset MindManager to the same set of maps when you open it. Set up the group as in my first suggestion and close MindManager. Are you confident in using the Registry Editor, exporting keys and running them?
  • Then open Regedit.exe
  • Navigate to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mindjet\MindManager\14\Workspace
  • Export the key.
  • Double clicking the exported reg file will import the set of maps to MindManager's Workspace.
  • Open MindManager

This macro opens a single map. Adding additional Set openmap lines will open more maps.

Sub Main
Dim openmap As Document
Set openmap = Documents.Open("g:\Andrew\Documents\Auction.mmap")
End Sub

Thanks, all.  I will try these options to see which works best for my goal.
Merry Christmas!
