Mindjet and Outlook not playing together.

Any ideas on a fix? Mind-jet Manager could not connect to Microsoft Outlook . Try setting Outlook or restarting both Outlook and Mind-manager. Both Programs must have the same privilege level property setting. Using 32bit Mindjet and Outlook.

Yes I can confirm this as well. I have contacted support but that has gone dead. Something very wrong in how that works!!!!! I suspect that problems are not passed on.

I can send a task from outlook to MM19 but cannot send from MM19 to outlook.

Further, I cannot add a resource to the task that has been sent from outlook. The only way this can happen is through a add-in called ResultsManager.  It looks like there is a problem with the outlook map part.

I will note that add-in developers seem more responsive than Mindjet. There also seems to be an software wide problem with larger companies unable to log and fix problems in a timely way. They don't even acknowledge a problem and one would think in this day and age that could be an automatic generated listing.

Imagine using MM to log problems and use some add-ins to sweep the maps to find tagged issues. Then the list could be sent to html 5 web page. Oh and imagine tagging them with a priority icon and even dating them so that they can sweep up software tasks in a date order.

Or is the real issue that the programming is outsourced and language is the big problem. Or is it the support staff that are afraid to "loose face" because they can't find the answer in their manual and are afraid of not meeting targets?

The same here with my installation. Mindjet 2019 Enterprise and Outlook 2016 out of Office 365 in a local installation.
Is there no response from support at Mindjet?

Norbert

Many thanks,
Support from Mindjet could resolve the problem. It was a mismatch of 32bit (Office) and 64bit (Mindmanager) Version. Now Minmanager and Outlook are working fine together.

I have both 32 bit versions, but the add-in is missing in my Outlook. Strange thing is, MM add-ins are available in Excel and Word. I'm using MM19.0.306 Enterprise edition. Any advice?

Most likely your  system admin has disabled something in your installation.
But why not do as Norbert did and check with Mindjet Support.
They are in place especially for you.

with MM2019 I had the same problem, but now with MM2020 everything runs with Outlook 365 on the desktop.
If I remember right, it doesnt run with outlook 365 web version.
Whats your connection between both programms ?
Although look at the video (german language) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yul64qn9QfE

Hi David.  I was just about to post.

Yes, the solution worked.

My insight.  If you use the install package from the download site
https://www.mindjet.com/support-info/download-library/

It installs yet I could not get MindManager 2020 to work with the Outlook from Microsoft 365.

However, if you install the proper MindManager 2020 64 bit install with Outlook 64 bit, it works just fine.

I suspect there is something off in the download library version that created the problem.

I am up and running and will continue to monitor the situation.

Thanks for the fix!

I am getting this exact error, with MindManager 2019 Enterprise 32-bit, and Outlook 2016 32-bit. It happens when I enter task information in a MindManager topic, and try to send that to Outlook. Any help will be appreciated!

Interestingly, if I send a topic to Outlook before entering any task information, it seems to go through, and puts in some default task information. It appears as if Outlook is incompatible with the native format of task information in MindManager.

After some experimentation, looks like I'm only able to do a 1-way sync from Outlook to MindManager. If I change any of the task information in MindManager and Send it to Outlook, it gives me an error that "Mindjet MindManager cannot find the linked Microsoft Outlook item. The item might have been deleted or moved." Thank you in advance for any help!

Its not easy for a normal user to get help for such problems by the intern IT helpdesk, and although from mindjet.

Maybe its good solution for everybody if we could find the detail conditions by mindjet for the connecting between MM and outlook for all possible links (FAQ).

It's very bad to lose lust of this big solution if it doesn't run correctly.

Now I have MM2020 and it works fine with the outlook 365 desktop app.

Hi Gustafon,

That's interesting, as I have a similar issue to you - if I initiate a sync from Outlook to MM it works the first time but if I try to sync it again (even if I haven't changed anything) I get the same message as you.

However, if I initiate the sync from the MindManager end (ie, I send a task to Outlook), it seems to work OK if I sync it later. Have you tried to sync this way and if so does it work?

This is on one of my PCs. The other doesn't sync at all - in fact it doesn't even see Outlook. Interestingly the two PCs are running identical versions of Office, though they were installed in different ways.

Alex, thanks for confirming this issue. To answer your question about initiating the sync from the MindManager end, yes, that is my default approach. The task information syncs as long as nothing is changed. As soon as I change any of the task information and try to sync, it fails with an error.

For academic purposes, I tried your approach of creating a task in Outlook 2016 (32-bit) first and sending it to MindManager (2019 Enterprise Edition 32-bit), and that part went through smoothly. I was able to change the task completion % in MindManager and successfully sync it back with Outlook. However, when I changed the task start and end dates in MindManager and tried to sync it back, it gave me an error. It appears that there is some incompatibility in the formats of the task information in MindManager 2019 and Outlook 2016 that is causing these errors. The task start/end dates in particular seem to reproducibly elicit errors.

Sorry - I'm slightly confused.

What I was trying to say was that for me it works OK if the sync is initiated from the MindManager end (ie, sending the task initially from MM to Outlook), but not the other way around (sending it initially from Outlook to MM). It's only with the latter that I get the error message when I edit anything and resync.

Are you saying you have problems whichever end the sync is initiated from?

Sorry for the confusion. I am seeing errors with the sync from MindManager no matter which app was used to create the original task.

I have been able to make it work using the following process

Build a task in Mindmanager
Set the priority to 1, 2 or 3
Send the task to my Outlook.

When I complete the task in Outlook, I mark it complete

I then return to Mindmanager and syc the map

The complete item is changed from not started to complete.

Alternative approach

If I want to keep track of progress on an item.  I use the % complete.

When I do an update of the Mindmap, the percentage complete is reflected in the map.

I hope that helps.

Jerry, Thank you for sharing your workflow. If I build a task in MindManager, I get the error when trying to Send to Outlook. However, if I send a topic to Outlook before I build a task, it goes through without an error and creates a task in Outlook and in MindManager. Thereafter, as you point out, syncing works only if you edit the task in Outlook and sync via MindManager. Editing the task information in MindManager and trying to then sync the changes to Outlook more often than not results in an error message.

It may help to file a ticket with MindManager to let them know about your problem.
