Mindjet app on ipad does not connect to cloud

I just created a significant amount of content in a map on my ipad. I am new at using the mindjet app / cloud, so I did not know I had to select the folder in the cloud then select sync for the data to be uploaded into the cloud. What I did was open Mindjet on my PC, and selected the file to start editing it some more, but there was only the title block. so I closed that, and it asked me if I wanted to check in my changes, but I did not make any changes, so I clicked okay. I went back to my ipad to see if I could figure out how to upload / checkin the changes I had made there. The Mindjet app locked up on my ipad, so I shut it down and restarted, and now it will not connect to the cloud. It is still showing there is 1 file that needs to be synced, so I am hoping my data is still in my ipad somewhere?

How do I get my ipad to connect again without loosing my data?

If I try to log out, it says I will loose any unsynced data.

Thank You,

Hi Steve,

I wish I could say this is an anomaly, but it's actually part of a newly emerging issue a number of our users have reported in the last week or so. We are hustling to pin it down, but still haven't yet--because we haven't made any updates to the app, we're still trying to diagnose its origins.

If I understand correctly, you were in Mindjet for iPad, and within the file navigator were in your Mindjet Files account. You created a map, fleshed it out, and then left it open?

The first thing to point out is that it shouldn't affect your data to leave the map open--the app is meant to hold onto those changes until you either: a) tap the synch button at the top of the UI, or b) close the map out, at which point the app is supposed to synch the changes to Mindjet Files.

However, until the map is closed out, it is considered to be checked out by the server, so that if you leave it open on the mobile client, and then open the same map on the web app, it should tell you that it's already checked out, and open the map as read-only. I'm not sure what transpired in this case, but it does sound like the map's contents are still cached on the iPad. I would try this:

•make a copy of the map that is accessible on the Mindjet web client
•make sure your iPad is connected to a good wi-fi signal, then power down
•restart iPad, launch Mindjet Maps, and display the File Navigator
•navigate to Mindjet Files

if you are able to view the map, I'd recommend sharing it to yourself via email before you try to load it back up to Mindjet Files.

As I said, we are working assiduously on this issue to try and sort it out, and apologize for the inconvenience it's caused you. Thanks

Thank You, at some point I tried to make a copy, and I wanted to try to paste it to a dropbox folder, because I don't know how to paste it to the local folder? So I added a storage service to dropbox, but that is when the map I was working on disappeared, and now it won't show up anywhere, and when I touch mindjet files, it says connecting, and never connects. So how do I view what is in the cache, or how do I make a copy of it if all I get is the ipad mindjet the opening screen and the files window that is stuck on connecting? Also, if I select mindjet files, and touch the sync icon, the icon starts spinning, but nothing happens??
Thank You again :)

Steve, let me consult with the engineers on this question, I don't want to speak out of turn and exacerbate the problem. Thanks very much for your input and patience.

Thank You,
I tried to remove the file from the web interface, and add a new one with the same name.
The connection came back, but all was lost. so sad :(
The system must have been confused by allowing the pc program to checkout / check in of a file that was already checked out on the ipad.
I'm a PC and using the ipad is strange to me. It takes extra effort to save and close something, and it's nearly impossible to do other things that seem like they would be normal to me.
Now I know that I need to sync, or close the map in order for the auto sync to happen. sync early, sync often !!
I'll practice more with smaller test files before using it for something real again.

Thanks very much for your forbearance, Steve--I hate it when a product I'm in charge of fails in such a manner, and really have this problem as the mobile team's top priority. I'll post updates on our progress here in the forum, and hope to have some good news soon.

I have the utmost confidence that you'll get it figured out, and I really enjoy using mindjet / mindmanager for getting my thoughts down and organizing them.
I remade my map on my PC in Mindmanager, and tried another experiment. I put a copy in my dropbox folder, and opened that with my ipad. I made a change, and closed the file on my ipad, and the sync happened. I opened the file with mindmanager on my pc, and it opened, and I made a change, but I couldn't save the change because the file was locked. I had to save it with a different file name. I'll try the same thing with mindjet connect and see how that goes.

Appreciate the vote of confidence, Steve--we will sort out this particular part of the Mindjet experience, and soon.

I've just had a similar problem with the iPhone app. Got a file that has the padlock symbol on the icon, and when I try to synchronize it never completes the process. I could see the same file on Mindjet Connect from my laptop, so (before I found this thread) I checked the file out and checked it back in again. I'm about to try out some of the suggestions above to retrieve a copy of the file, and will let you know how I get on.

I just logged back into Mindjet Connect from my laptop and found that the file in question was still checked out (after I thought I'd checked it back in). So have just checked it back in and made a duplicate within Mindjet Connect. So I have two copies of the file in the cloud if I end up having to delete the file from my iPhone (if I can even do that). The file on my iPhone hadn't been edited, it had just been left open, so I won't lose any changes...it's just that I couldn't open the file on my iPhone because it appeared to be checked out to another user (i.e. me on my Mindjet Connect acount).

I powered the iPhone off and on. Restarted Mindjet app, but couldn't connect to Cloud Storage Mindjet Files ("Cannot reach server.") to see the file in question. Other apps on the iPhone have got internet access (e.g. Chrome browser), so after a couple of tries to connect to Cloud Storage Mindjet Files from the iPhone app I've now logged out of Cloud Storage Mindjet Files and am trying to log in again. It failed to login (couldn't reach server), and so I closed the Mindjet app, then re-opened it and tried to "Add storage service / Mindjet Files" but it failed to login ("Cannot login. Cannot reach server"). I just checked my Chrome browser and it's still loading new pages fine, so the internet connectivity is there. I'm hoping it's just a temporary problem at the Mindjet server end but that would be a heck of a coincidence...it feels more likely that my iPhone Mindjet app has got a real problem now.

So now I've deleted the Mindjet app from the iPhone (I didn't have any local files), and reinstalled it. Logged into Cloud Storage Mindjet Files first time without a problem and can see all my files, including the original problem file and the copy of it that I made in Mindjet Connect. Just opened both copies from my iPhone and they both open and close OK and I don't have any synchronizations that are pending. Problem solved I think. Phew!
