Can you clarify the Roadmap for Mindjet Connect Basic (free) i.e. it's Product Lifecycle Policy. I am concerned that it may not be free for much longer and you would need to upgrade to the business version for your ( the PM / owner) and all your guests / viewers or task assignees.

Since my original post Mindjet Web - formerly Mindjet Connect Basic has now gone live (new name and logo) and the email updates contain the following:

Mindjet is a free web application that keeps teams in sync allowing you to easily delegate, prioritize and track tasks with your team. It's a simple, new way to work together.

Still waiting for clarification....

Hello Rob, you are correct that Mindjet Connect Basic has changed as of 9/20. Over the last year our users have taught us that it is better to use a trial model that provides them with all functionality up front to experience, vs. using a freemium model that gives just a little functionality and forces them to purchase a license before they get to see everything Mindjet has to offer.

For new Mindjet trialists who decide not to buy, their Mindjet will become what we are now calling Mindjet Reader (essentially what Mindjet Connect Basic is today). Mindjet Reader functionality still includes the basic ability to create and share maps as well as basic social task management functionality. Over time, we will continue to adjust the functionality in Mindjet Reader vs. full Mindjet in order to ensure our users get the best experience for both their paid members as well as their free guest users.

Blaine, this makes sense. I would recommend that this information is posted on your website to reassure other Mindjet Reader users and guests. This originated from the conversation with a APAC sales rep how gave me the impression that my guests would have to buy the business version. As the PM I am happy to buy business but was concerned that external project members would not be.

Thank you Rob. It is definitely our intention to keep Mindjet as "viral" as possible with the notion of free "guest" users or something similar. Having said that, we definitely want to provide so much value with Mindjet that people will want to be full paid members and will not simply want to remain guests. It is up to us to show the value - and we will!!!

are guests still permitted to edit mindmaps that have been shared with them? It makes it difficult to use the tool with clients if feedback is not easily communicated through the tool.

Yes, nothing has changed about the way Guests are allowed to edit maps created by others who give them permission.
