I can't login to Mindjet connect through my company's firewalls. It works well from home, but not from work. What, exactly shall I ask them to allow/set up in order to log in, or how can I further troubleshoot the problem?

Applies to: Connect users with MindManager 2012 unable to access Connect server due to company Proxy settings.

Below are the steps to alter or remove the proxy configurations set in MindManager 2012.
Note: the MindManager.config file is located in a UAC protected directory (You will need local administrator rights to modify this file).

Default configuration File Locations can be found here depending on your Operating System:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mindjet\MindManager 10\MindManager.config (For 64 Bit OS)

C:\Program Files\Mindjet\MindManager 10\MindManager.config (For 32 Bit OS)

In MindManager 2012 10.1.459 Proxy support has been enabled with the line:

<defaultProxy useDefaultCredentials="true">

With previous to MindManager 2012 the Proxy support line was set to :

<defaultProxy useDefaultCredentials="false">

Changing the line "false" to "true" will enable proxy support.

There are some cases where the information above may not work for Proxy support. Here are some other methods that may help Proxy support.

Case 1) A Proxy configuration script is used by the company.
Verify as follows:
-Open Internet Explorer
-Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings
-Automatically detect settings should be checked.
-Use Automatic Configuration Script will be checked.
-Copy the Address location.

Next you will want to edit the configuration file as follows:

<proxy usesystemdefault="True"/>
scriptLocation="url of Pac file"

Case 2) MindManager is on a laptop that accesses the Internet internally behind a Proxy and externally without a Proxy.

In this case, modify MindManager.config as follows.

<defaultProxy useDefaultCredentials="true">
<proxy usesystemdefault="true"/>
<add address="*" maxconnection="12" />

Basically remove the entire system.net section.
When this is done MindManager will follow the Internet Explorer Proxy settings. So when a user is internal to the Proxy server and Internet Explorer works so will MindManager.
When a user is external and disable Proxy support in Internet Explorer then MindManager will not be using the Proxy as well.

Search may also be listed as "Firewall" in place of "Proxy" for better assistance.
