Mindjet for Android crashes after synching with server

Mindjet for Android crashes after finishing synching with Mindjet server.

I think it was February 5th when suddenly Mindjet started crashing every time if I had network connection and it could try to synch with server. I also had Dropbox connection enabled but it finished without problem, and also tested so that I removed dropbox connection and Mindjet still crashed after synching. So currently Mindjet only works if I do not have network connection.

I saved some mindmaps to Dropbox because I want to have them there, but it seems that because I never could have network connection they were never copied there. But now I am wondering if I lost them all when tested removing Dropbox connection and enabling it again after seeing that crash is not caused by it, at least I can't find them using Mindjet or Dropbox anymore.

I have Nexus 7 with Android 4.2.2.

I am having a similar problem after today's update (4/30). Whenever I setup my dropbox connection it crashes. Once it has been setup the application will always crash at startup. The only way I can get it to work is to clear data and not setup Dropbox which is where I have my maps. Extremely frustrating to say the least.

In responding to the initial problem with compatibility to Mindjet Files (which should be much improved with the 3.6 update) we inadvertently broke Dropbox. The good news is that we already have the fix in, and hope to be posting an update tomorrow. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks, Omar--out of curiosity, do you have the Dropbox app itself installed on your device. We were testing on devices that had the Dropbox app installed, and so didn't see the issue, but on devices w/o Dropbox installed, the crash happens instantly.

I do have it installed. Let me know if you need anything from me like a logcat or something.

thanks, Omar--we've already verified the fix, so no need, but thanks for your input (and patience!).

I have the same problem and have NO Dropbox syncing. That's NOT the problem. Opens from inside the app (files manually created), crashes ever time double clicking on any mm file. This started happening recently. Then reverted back to previous version 3.0 and it STILL happens. A real mess. I depended on this program and now it's USELESS. This is a VERY serious bug and should be given absolute top priority.

Hi Roger, sorry to hear of this crash. A few questions:

What is your device/Android OS version?

Does the crash happen with maps stored on the cloud in Mindjet Files, or stored locally on the device, or both?

Did this issue start when you updated to 3.6, or before?

Have you tried going into Settings>Apps, and clearing out the cache and data for Mindjet Maps to see if that resolves the issue?

This isn't something that's happening generally, so let's see if we can debug why it's happening for you (and hopefully by extension, anyone else who is experiencing it). Thanks.

Running Android 4.1.2. Running locally stored mm files which worked fine until recently. Now even backtracking and installing ver3.0 crashes. Clearing cache doesn't help. This crashes on EVERY map I run, small or large. I'm not syncing anything just store all my internet and local info. I was able to backtrack even further to Thinking Space which DOES work! I can't find the dummy map I created which appears in the list. If I move my real map to the same place maybe it'll open it? Something really changed radically recently and poisoned something in the system and I sure can't figure out what. Thanks.

Did you by any chance change the name of the local directory in which you store the maps? I can't imagine why this would be happening.

When you upgraded from Thinking Space to Mindjet, did you ever create a Mindjet account, and try to use our Mindjet Files cloud storage? If so, you might want to test and see if you can move some of the maps in question to that location and see if they behave the same way.

Clear data instead of cache and set it up again.

Thanks, Omar--yes, both should be cleared. And don't be afraid to Force Quit either

Cleared cache and data, no help. This app worked fine on local drive files and then something went NUTS. I did not change anything here. I don't want to sync to the cloud but I can try it. But it defeats the purpose that I have it for. I don't WANT to keep my private data on any servers, just my local machine. The application should certainly be able to handle that as it did 2 weeks ago.

My mindmaps can be opened when uploaded and shared from the cloud. Mindjet is totally inoperative and crashes every time on every file when used locally. Although this workaround works, I think that this is a major software failure and should be corrected since people need to access their data locally, not just when they have an internet connection. I'm a normal user with a normal device and if this is happening with me I'm sure that it's happening with many, many others.
