Mindmanager crashes on SMART Board

Hello,

in our department at University we'd like to use Mindmanager 8 on a SMART Board.
Sadly every time I try to use the pens in pen-mode the software crashes not later than 5 minutes.
I deactivated SMART Ink but that doesn't seem to have an effect on the crashing.
Next I tried not to use the pens but my fingers, it lasted longer but crashed after 15 minutes work.

Does anyone know why this happens and what we can do?

We use:
Windows 8
Mindmanager8
(To try, if it's because of the version: Test-Version Minjet)

Thank you,
Jessica

Hi Jessica,

MindManager 8 was never tested or certified on Windows 8. The only versions that we certify to work on Windows 8 are MindManager 2012 (aka 10) and Mindjet 11. To run older version of MindManager on a Windows 8 system you will minimally need to upgrade .NET Framework to 3.5, but based on past experience this may not work for MindManager 8.

As for the issue with pen services, we do have a workaround which I have copied below:

1. Navigate to C:\windows\system32\wisptis.exe
2. Right click and go to Security..click Advanced
3. Go to the Owner tab
4. Click Edit
5. Add your login as a new user
6. Take ownership of the file.
7. Click "Change permissions"
8. Add your login account if you don't see it.
9. Then edit the setting for the account and give your self full control.
10. Now you need to rename the wisptis.exe to something else and replace it with a empty text file of the same name.

Note: the issue may occur again if updates are performed for Adobe Reader or other applications that utilize the Wisptis.exe process.

Terry,

thank you so much for you fast reply.
I was wondering why you referred to Windows 8 until I saw my mistake. *arghs* I'm so sorry! We're running Windows 7.

But I presume, that you suggestion will work for windows 7 also.

Again, sorry for the wrong information und thank you for you fast answer.

Hi Jessica,

Yes this solution will also work when using Windows 7.

Hi Terry,

that's not a solution we can accept because we have a Smartboard and do need the wisptis.exe for the touch functionality. Without wisptis.exe we can't use the touch functionality on the Smartboard!
Do you have another solution which would work?

Hi Jessica,

We don't support Smartboard, so I don't have any solution for you as it turns out. Sorry for not understanding what you were attempting to do. I will switch this to an Idea to recommend our Product Management team consider adding this functionality in a future release.
