MindManager "unable to initialize a required component"... error on startup

"Mindjet Mindmanager was unable to initialize a required component. Please repair your Mindjet Mindmanager installation using the Add/Remove Programs feature in your system's Control Panel."

This error, followed by a 2nd error "Attempted an unsupported operation", appears each time I start MM2012. I am running MM2012 on a Dell XPS13 running Win7 64 bit, without Admin rights.

MM2012 seems to start normally after that, but is there a log I can pull which can tell me what is failing? I'd like to fix, or at least give feedback to my IT department on what is wrong...

And yes, I've tried to repair the install, I've uninstalled, and re-installed, and installed (and uninstalled) both as a non-Admin rights user (as mandated by my company) and as an Administrator.

Thanks in advance for any clues!

Did you find a solution to this problem?

Could it be that the usage of DEP (Data Execution prevention from Microsoft) stops the component?

Hi Arvid - I was unable to find a solution with the last version of MindManager, but last week I installed the new version (MindJet 11) without a problem, so the problem has been solved, but not w/MM10.

Hi, Bryan. Thanks for your answer, I have been installing version 10.1.459 and we have confirmed that DEP is blocking some module in Mindmanager. It is trying to write to a poriton of the memory that is has no business writing in. So DEP is blocking the module. (Dep is set to MAX) Since I work for a client that has security to the full, it will not be turned off.

Now the version 11.....We've just bought version 10.
I guess the license key will not be working with 11.
We will have to buy version 11, or is there a patch we can use?

Hi Arvid,

As it was pointed out, we've addressed this issue in the latest version but do not have plans to patch earlier versions. The issue arises because a component that we use is also used by another program installed on your system (e.g. igrafx). You may want to look into either upgrading our version or checking if the other vendors have a solution.

thanks,
Michael
