Can you please give a more detailed description of what it is you are trying to accomplish. Also, an explanation of the steps that you are taking would be helpful as well. Thank you!

Try right clicking the file and checking the properties to make sure that this particular file is not a read-only file.
If it is not, please open a ticket with our support team. They will need to gather additional information regarding this issue. Please open a ticket by following this link: https://secure.mindjet.com/support/co.... Thank you!

I may be wrong but I think you will find that the Preview Pane for Explorer does not have functionality for editing ANY file/document, not just MindManager Maps.

Nigel,
You are right. The preview is for view only; you have to edit the documents in their application (Mindjet, Word, etcetera).
PS. Great initiative: MODI - Do more with Mindjet

It seems to be a "race" condition between the preview loading and the map loading in MindManager / Mindjet. It just depends on which one gets there first.
If MindManager / Mindjet is not already running, then the Preview wins every time, and by the time MindManager tries to open the file, it is already set to read-only.
If MindManager / Mindjet is already running, I found that most of the time the map will open for read/write, and the preview pane displays a message about not being able to open the file for preview.
However, this behaviour does not seem to apply to other types of document. For example, a Word document remains editable even when viewed in the preview pane. Maybe it is something to do with the way that the preview is rendered, which requires the map file to be set to read-only while previewing. So there might be something to investigate here.
In the meantime, the workaround is to switch off the preview pane.

Hi!
I've got the same issue. It would be really great if Mindjet worked on a solution for this issue, as IMO the preview pane is a quite powerful tool, which I wouldn't like to switch off just for the sake of Mindjet.
Thanks for the help btw, this thread helped me find the issue!
