Move Subtopic anywhere of Parent Topic

it seems basic but I have looked everywhere and cannot find the answer, so I want to post it..

I am trying to create a FlowChart type map, with Yes and No directions. I want to have my YES to the right of the Topic and my NO is the bottom of my topic.

It seems MM on allows 1 direction for the Topic.  Its all or nothing..  Am I right?

Is there a way to have a subtopic come from the (right, left, top, bottom) then have another subtopic came from another position??  I have tried the Layout button on both Topic and Subtopic, but doesn't give me what I want

Hello Jon

Floating topics will work better for this.

I have created an add-in for helping MindManager to draw concept maps, block diagrams and simple flow charts, available at

http://www.olympic-limited.co.uk/product/network-builder/

The add-in does not do anything that cannot be done manually with standard MindManager features, but makes it easier to create and modify the diagrams.

thanks, after spending $300+ the last thing I want to do is spend $65... looks very customizable..

"Floating topics will work better for this." do you mean the map cannot be inter-connected, each floating topic will be independent of others??

Hello Jon

No, the floating topics can be connected with relationships to make a network, as shown below. The relationships can be annotated with callout topics to label paths such as "yes" and "no" from a decision.

oh within your addon you meant...  I thought you were referring to MM standalone... that's a nice diagram, very helpful..  I hate that MM isn't customizable when it comes to location of topics/subtopics.  you have to see things how they decided...

MindManager does have some different topic layouts, which can be selected by right-clicking on a topic, clicking "Format Topic...", and going to the Subtopics Layout tab. However it is really designed for trees, not networks.

Floating topics can be positioned anywhere in the canvas. The Network Builder extension uses only standard MindManager map elements, but speeds up the layout and structuring of network diagrams. You can manually create the same diagrams as the Network Builder samples with normal MindManager features, just not as quickly as with the add-in.

but the Format Topic doesn't allow you to have multiple locations for subtopics... that is what I am looking for, to layout subtopics where I choose to on a topic, not based on the 5 layout options MM includes...  is this something I could program with in MM thru the code editor??

but if you use a lot of Floating Topics you lose the ability to do some other helpful functions within MM, like open close branches, etc

No reason to hate MM.

You can move topics by using the handle (small circle) to any place in your map.
You can add subtopics to a floating topic  and open close branches.
And there is lots more functionality that helps you design your maps.

All this can be found in the MindManager Help section, I assume you have been there.
If you need extra support, feel free to ask, or follow a training.

thanks Ary, i dont think you understand my original question.... I actually created a .jpg to explain it better.

its a simple "No you cant" or "Yes you can, here is how..."

if you look at my original post, there is a picture included.  How do i move a subtopic to the right of a topic and keep a subtopic below a topic... I need it to be part of my overall map and do it with several topics..  From what I see MM offers a all or nothing solution when it comes to choosing what direction Subtopics can grow out of a Topic...

lol, thanks

MM is great but should make it more customizable to place subtopics where users see fit...
