Open a file from File explorer overrides "Reopen last open maps"

I always use "Reopen last open maps on startup". Very useful! (irritating that it doesn ́t work now in MM16).

But anyway, sometimes it happens that I open a file from FIle Explorer and to late I realize that MM is not running. Then MM opens with only that file.

But wouldn ́t it be great if MM checked if Reopen feature is checked, and ALSO opened the last files, together with the file I opened from File Explorer?

Hi Bjorn

That has annoyed me for a while to. Also happens when someone send you an email with an attached map and MM is not running. You click the attachment and MM opens with just that map and you have lost yesterday's dashboard.

Perhaps Mindjet can fix their new problem and the old one in one go with their next release.

I checked the 'Reopen Last open local maps on startup' feature and as you said it doesn't work. I will send it off to Product Development.  In the meantime, we do have 'Recent Files' which lists all of the files that you had open recently.  This is consistent with what MS Word does I think (unless someone knows better!) I don't see that MS Word opens last files automatically nor is there a setting for that.

Also if your file was not saved before you exited MindManager, the program saves your file and the next time you open MindManager, asks you if you want to re-open it.

Andrew are you losing files because you don't save them before you close MindManager then someone interrupts the 're-open' message from MindManager?  Please let me know the circumstances where you actually lose files.  Thanks!

Hi Dave

I am not losing any maps because I have not saved them. I put the Save All button on the QAT :)

The recent files list is working. In Options I always set this to the max allowed 15. Something I have done since MindManager X5 was released.

Also MindManager prompts me to save unsaved maps if I close it.

Hi All,

The issue with 'Reopen last open local maps on startup' has been addressed in MindManager 2016 service pack 1, which is planned to be released this month.  I have personally tested the update and have verified this feature is in fact working again.

We can consider enhancing MindManager to also reopen last open local maps when MindManager is launched by opening a file from the file explorer in a future release.

Best,
Marian

I very much support this. You always realise you need this the split second after you click on the map file in explorer. It's also relevant to maps attached to emails.

Thanks Marian...good job amigo!  I think this answers a number of threads on this same subject.  I was surprised at how popular this particular feature is as it is not available in most other desktop software that I use anyway.

And it would be wonderful if Reopen also worked on files stored in Mindjet Files.
