Out of memory error after a few minutes of MM; cannot export to any format

Lately, when I open my mind map in MindManager (v8.0.217), it only stays open for a few minutes before crashing with an "out of memory" error followed by a fatal error from Windows. I used to be able to use it fine before, on the same computer (Win XP, 4GB RAM).

When I try to save the mindmap as plaintext or HTML, again I get "out of memory", even though under Task Manager, MindManager seems to take up a normal amount of memory (~400MB). I rebooted in SafeMode to increase the memory available to it, but the same happens.

I also tried the Map2Excel add-on, but the Outline Export command leads to an error ("System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException....."), while the Text/HTML options lead to an empty file being opened.

The information inside my mindmap seems therefore to be "trapped", with no possibility of continuing to edit the file in MindManager, nor to export the contents to a different format and take it from there. Can anyone help please? Thanks!

Do you know what might have changed since it was last working?

8.0.217 is not the latest version of MindManager 8. You should be able to update to 8.2.319 with your existing license key. I am not aware that this would solve the issue, but it is always worth using the latest available version. Or if this is not practical, then try running a repair on the MindManager installation.

Another approach would be to disable all Add-ins in the Options menu > Add-ins page, to reduce the amount of software loaded inside Mindmanager.

If MindManager will run for a minute or two, then try copying the central topic and pasting it into a new map, then saving that as a different map.

Lastly, you could try installing a trial version of Mindjet 11 and using this to export the information in your map to another format. Mindjet 11 should be able to open MindManager 8 maps without any problem.

I installed the Mindjet 11 trial, however after a while of the mindmap being opened in it, I received the same fatal error as I used to do with the old version: "Runtime error from Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"

The export function worked fine though, so I can still make use of the text inside the mindmap, although obviously having it in mindmap format would have been more convenient.

Upon trying to Save As a different mmap file, I get another runtime error from the C++ runtime library, this time with the description "R6025 - pure virtual function call", followed by two fatal error messages from Windows, announcing the crash of MindJet. The same thing happens if I try to create the new map by doing a Select All + Copy + Paste into a blank map: upon pressing Ctrl+C, I get those same error messages.

Nothing has changed in my computer in terms of hardware since the last time I was using MindManager without issues, and I don't think much has changed int erms of software either.

I am sure these error messages were once listed together with download links in the Knowledge Base, but those articles are no longer available. This sounds like something that should be fixable with an updated runtime library, so I would recommend opening a support ticket with Mindjet tech support. The link is
