Overlapping Topics

I am working with a lot of floating topics that are not supposed to connect. However, in some instances, I would like them to overlap with each other. If I use drag and drop, they automatically either connect as topic-subtopic or the whole topic changes its place to avoid overlapping. As overlapping is exactly what I want them to do - can I somehow disable this function? I would be very grateful for any help!

You can drag (floating) topics to any place you want with Shift-Drag
However they will not overlap. I assume this is because MindManager is an information management tool rather than a diagram drawing tool.

I have tried to change some settings using File-Options-Edit but found nothing to proove me wrong.

Ofcourse I am curious WHY on earth would you want overlapping topics? Maybe there is a solution that provides you with similar functionality

Additonal info ..

During a recent Mindjet webinar on background objects by Nick Duffil, Stephen Bashford informed us about:

If you have 2 floating topics. You can select one (or more) of them and right click for a context menu. Go all the way down to Options inthere and select Pin Topic. Now you can drag the other topic across the Pinned one.
Try it and enjoy.

Thank you so much, it worked with the "pin"-option! It was a little tiring and long-winded (as they sometimes still tried to connect), but in the end it worked. I am working with a timeline and different actors along that timeline where I want to symbolize occasional overlapping lifetimes by having their "bubbles" overlap. Maybe you are right that mindjet is not the perfect tool for that... But anyway, now it's fine. Thanks again!
