I am evaluating Mindjet. So far I think it is super.
However, I need to be able to split a large map into manageable chunks for both review and printing. The slide feature looks like the best way to do this.
Unfortunately, I cannot find any option which allows me to scale the slide to fit the page.
This is vital. I do not want to scale portions of the main map to get the slide to fit.
ps. I found how to move the page border. but not re-scale the border.

Hi Matthew. Slides are printed exactly as displayed in the slide view. To fit the slide to the page size, simply change the zoom level as required. Please give this a try and let me know if that works. Thanks!

I am using the zoom tools on the Ribbon bar. I can zoom in or out, but the scale of the map does not changer relative to the page background. When I hit Print Preview the bits (a lot of bits) are not included within the printed page.
Are there different zoom tools than what is on the ribbon bar ?. I have spent hours trying to get this to work.

In the example below, the content inside the white box is printing, outside the white box is excluded. How can I scale the white box. ???. I really want this to work, as it is a barrier to use of (and purchase of) what looks like a great product.

I am really disappointed I have not got a response to my query.
The answer I got simply does not work. If I zoom in or out of the slide view it does not change the elements of the map that are off the page.
My print dialogue settings does not provide any option to scale the map to the page.
How can I print my slides.
How useless is a system that does not allow me print my slides.
How can I professionally present slides where half the content is off the page.
There must be a simple answer.
How do I get support for this basic question.

This problem also occurs with MM2012 for Windows.
There are two partial workarounds: First, export the relevant sections of the map as map images or capture them using the snipping tool (or the Mac equivalent, whatever that is). You can then paste these images into Powerpoint or other presentation software slides which you can then print.
The second option is adapted from an earlier post I did on this problem and is applicable if you have MS Office software and want the content to appear as PowerPoint slide titles and bullet points. In summary, you export to Word and then open the Word file in PowePoint.
Assuming this works the same way on a Mac as on a PC, the export to Word will turn main topics into main headings, the next level of subtopics into first level sub headings etc. Importing from Word into PowerPoint will then turn the main headings into slide headings, the first level sub headings into first level bullet points and so on.

Thanks for the response, especially on a Sat.
I think the only workable solution is to clip the map. Cutting and pasting text loses all the impact of the map (ie Word or Powerpoint).
This is ok for a once off, but not at all workable for multiple page slides that may need to be updated / circulated daily. The slide feature is an ideal model to set up the pages and scaling required and then print the deck or export to a pdf as a single click.
I am really impressed with the product (ok I can see opportunities for improvement), but gobsmacked that such a high quality product has such a critical failing.
I hope it has priority for a fix. Keeping my fingers crossed.
PS.
I am using Windows 7 and have Office 2010. The interface from Mindjet to Outlook is superb, but the interface to Word or Powerpoint is a real disappointment. It should be possible to post a map or section of a map into a Word or Powerpoint document.

I completely agree about the slide issue and like a lot of people have been urging Mindjet to make the slide frame scaleable since the slide creation process was "improved" in V9. I also agree it would be great to have a dynamic link to a section of a map in Word or PowerPoint.
There are however two options to get part of the way there. The first is to select the branches you want to export using Show Branch Alone and just create a separate PDF for each one. This works fine if you want to export only a few images and are happy to have them as stand-alone PDF files. Obviously the PDFs would have to be re-exported every time there was a change.
The second option is more complicated but is more suitable if you want to export multiple images and collate them in one document, particularly a Word or PowerPoint document.
This approach is a refinement of the clipping process which was suggested by Andrew Wilcox in an earlier thread and basically involves creating image files of each branch and set of topics in MM which are then inserted and linked into PowerPoint or Word, rather than simply inserted or pasted. It does not remove the need to re-export every time a change is made but at least the document that contains the linked images can be easily updated.
I've provided a little more detail on Andrew's suggestion to make it easier to follow; these instructions are based on MM2012 for Windows and Word/PowerPoint for Windows:
1. In MM, select and show only the branch you want to export or collapse the map to show only the main branches if that's what you want to export.
2. Go to File, click on Export and choose Export as image. When the dialogue box appears, tick the Show image after export box to confirm you've exported what you wanted.
3. Go to Word or PowerPoint. Select the page or slide you want the image on, and choose Insert Picture. When the dialogue box appears, select the image and then click on the arrow next to the Insert/Open button and choose Insert and Link to insert a hyperlinked version of the image.
4. To update the image after making changes in the map you will have to repeat the export process in MM using steps 1 and 2 above for each image, taking care to overwrite the previously-exported image using the same filename. This is the boring part.
5. However once you have done this you will be able to update all the inserted images in the Word or PowerPoint document by highlighting the whole document and pressing F9.

Alexsg,
Thank you for your detailed response. Appreciated. I think your second option is most appropriate for my scenario. I will experiment.
Best wishes and still hoping this has priority for a considered patch.
(It should be an easy fix. All the hard work is done in that a scaling box exists in slide view, which can be moved around the map, just allow it to be scaled).

This hurts me too big time! All my work is based around maps, presenting using the maps needs a lot of navigation, scrolling and sizing and takes away the attention from my audience.
Please Mindjet, fix this problem, I was hoping to find a solution on the forum and not a time-consuming workaround!

Yep. This is a big problem. I'm spending hours saving jpegs, importing them to PowerPoint, blah blah blah... I could almost make the pictures as quickly in Publisher or Photoshop... For the exorbitant price of MindJet, you would have thought they would have sorted this out by now.

There is another option if you have too many sub-topics on a branch, which works best if you want want dot points on your slides rather than images of map branches - you can create two or more slides from the same branch.
Simply create a slide for the top half of the subtropics, then move the slide box to cover the bottom half. When exported to PowerPoint you will have two slides with the same heading (the branch name) and two sets of sub-topics. You can either leave this as is or try to merge the slides in PowerPoint to create a single slide.

I think they have completely lost the plot. This should be a minor fix... as they have all the tools to do this. Maybe too many chiefs and not enough indians. No response to any real issues. Focus appears to be on subscription models to the cost of everything else.
I was prepared to invest in this product and even promote it in many consulting jobs I do. However, I have given up on that.
Let me suggest you explore the following.

The pro version of this hits the sweet spot for me. Cost is very very reasonable. The ipad tool is impressive. I have absolutely no connection to this company... just a simple soul who needs real world solutions.
If I had got any reasonable response from Mindjet to many direct communications I would not be making this posting.
