Privacy on maps and Question on markers

Hi,

I've got 2 questions

Question 1.
I'm currently sharing a map on the cloud environment with a team and I was wondering if there was any way that I could include a 'private' section within the map that only the owner of the account would have access to?
If that is not a possibility, I know that it is possible to link maps and what I'm looking to do is a run a power filter query to get a report on the tasks that I need to accomplish in the next few weeks. However, I'm having an issue in doing this from one map as the query only picks up the map that I'm currently in and not any maps that are linked to it. Am I doing something wrong? What would be an easy workaround to get a complete list of tasks from all my maps?

Question 2.
Currently we are using some markers to align deadlines on MindManager with what we are using in other programs and are using Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4 markers. However, some members have been accidentally adding more than 1 of these icons into their tasks and I was wondering if it was possible to set a rule so that you could only have 1 of these icons active per task?

Thanks in advance for any help!
Regards

Hi Yassen,

#1: You cannot hide a private branch (yet). One possible workaround: You can send tasks to Mindjet Tasks from each of your maps and then query Mindjet Tasks to view all of your open tasks. Another in the future: ResultsManager is being updated to work with the latest versions of Mindjet. This would handle your request for querying tasks across maps.

#2: Yes. If you open up the Marker pane and then right click on the marker group (e.g. Quarter), you can choose the option 'Mutually Exclusive'. This will only allow 1 marker to be selected from the group on a topic.

Hi Michael,

Thanks a lot for the quick response, you were very helpful.

Do you have any idea on when ResultsManager will work with MindJet11?

Hi Yassen,

As a workaround for the second part of your first question you could use Outlook to assist in this process - that's if you have a copy of Outlook, of course.

To do this, export the tasks in all your project maps to Outlook and then keep them in sync. You can then create a master map which is based on one or more Outlook queries to gather the tasks which have been synced to Outlook from the individual project maps.

You can filter this map to show (for example) tasks that are due in the next week either by adding criteria to the Outlook query or creating a power filter query. You can also use task categorisation in Outlook which will be reflected in both the individual project maps and this master map. In the latter this is helpful to show which project each task came from.

In addition you could get the full Marker Index addin (available on request from Mindjet to set up an Active Index that will automatically change the task topic coloring in the master map to reflect its status (for example green if the task is due more than a month away, red if it's overdue).

Let me know if you have any questions about the above approach or the Marker Index add-in.

@Yassen - yes, ResultsManager is being completely rewritten for MindManager 2012 and MindManager 11 for Windows. Please send an email to support@gyronix.com with the subject line "ResultsManager" to receive progress updates.
