Problems Saving maps on android mobile and Connect cloud (chrome)

I am having ongoing issues saving maps between my android mobile device and my Mindjet Connect in the cloud on Google Chrome. Consistently losing updates I make to maps between the mobile device and my PC. Often I am getting the message on my PC "Your Mindjet account may not have your latest work because you have an open local copy on Mindjet for AndroidI" and I go to my map on android and there is no way or option to "close" or "save" the version I have on Android. I have hit "sync" several times on my Android device, but that does not solve the problem.

Please advise as to a solution to close or save my map on android. Secondly, please work 100% on improving the syncronization feature for Mindjet in general. I am close to abandoning the application and from what I can read on teh boards so are many other customers. You need to make this a priority fix if you don;t want your business to go down the drain.

Sorry to hear about this issue--the message you're seeing on Mindjet web is part of a new system we're putting in place to ensure that users know the state of their maps regardless of which device they're working on. In this instance, can I ask, when you had the map open on your Android device, did you make any changes, or were you just viewing it?

If you had made changes, then simply by hitting the Android back button to close the map and return to the file navigation should save the map.

If you are just viewing the map on Android, and leave it open, when you try to access that same map from the Web or Desktop version of Mindjet, you will see the message "Your Mindjet account may not have your latest work because you have an open local copy on ________". The mobile apps treat an open map as if it were being edited, even if the user is only viewing it, as a precaution against data loss.

If the changes you make on Android are not registering when you open the map from the web, please report that. Upon closing the map on Android, there may be some latency depending on variables such as the strength of your connection, size of your account, etc., so you might have a bit of a wait before the changes are synched to Mindjet Files.

Thanks for letting us know about this, and again sorry for the trouble.

Hi Andy... here's the sequence of events... Made changes to an existing map on my android device... pushed the back button... later went to open the same map on my PC (Mindjet Connect)... saw a yellow unlocked padlock symbol beside the map file and a status of "checked out by: me"... opened the file and got the message "Your Mindjet account may not have your latest work because you have an open local copy on on Mindjet for Android"... when I opened the file it did not show any of the changes I had made previously on the Android device. So it seems to your last point that the changes I make on Android are not registering when I open the map from the web even though I an backspacing to close the map on Android to effectively close the map according to your note.

Also on my Android device there is a green padlock symbol beside the map file. So I think there is some process related to these padlock symbols involving "checking in" and "checking out" maps that may be causing the problem. I admit I do not understand this checking out process and I cannot find any explanation of it on any of the Mindjet help or user forums.

From what you describe, for some reason, the Android version of the map not only didn't get synched back to Mindjet Files, but it never left its 'checked out' state. Thus, when you went to MJ Web, you saw that dialog.

Here is what is supposed to happen in the workflow you described:

•Open map residing in Mindjet Files on Android Client (map is automatically checked out in order to avoid conflict or data loss)
•Make changes to map on Android client (changes are cached locally)
•When finished editing, hit Android back button 2x to return to File navigation view
•Title for map that just edited will show to the left a pencil icon (indicating changes still to be synched) and a green padlock (indicating that map is checked out by you)
•So long as connection is available to Android client, once the changes are synched, the app automatically checks the map back in

What SHOULD have happened is that when you went to the MJ Web app, not only should the changes have registered in the map, but you should not have seen the 'checked out by me' yellow padlock icon at all, since once the Android finishes synching changes it checks the map back in. As I noted, there may be some synching latency, depending on the variables of connectivity, account size, etc., but the bullet points above describe how it is designed to work. I will ask the QA team to see if they can reproduce this issue. Thanks for your info and patience.

There has been over 24 hours since the changes were made on Android and ample time and wireless access for the sync to occur so somehow a synch issue exists. So thanks for looking further into this.

Absolutely--a few more questions:

•is your Mindjet Files account fairly large and complex (e.g., different sharing rules for different folders, etc.), or just one directory with a lot of maps and other files stored in it?
•what Android OS and Device are you using?
•do you have the 3.5 version of Mindjet Maps for Android?

thanks. I have been looking at this periodically, on a Nexus 4, Android 4.2.2 on Mindjet 3.5, and haven't been able to reproduce it on my account yet. I would recommend updating to Mindjet 3.5 to see if the issue persists, and we will continue to investigate.

No 3.5 for Android tablet offered on Google Play? Tried to uninstall and re-install 3.0 (only version available on Google Play) on my tab and now it just hangs when I try to log in and can't use it at all. I need a solution to get 3.0 working on my tab for now or a way to obtain 3.5. Please advise, thanks.

So lo and behold, when I download the app from G Play on my PC I get v 3.5... but when I download it from my Android tab on Play I get v 3.0. Issue at MJ or issue at G Play... don;t know but MJ needs to get this resolved as its highly frustrating.

OK, so it seems MJ 3.5 is only available for android phone but not android tab. My tab is the source of my sync issue. Please advise.

Mindjet Maps for Android is a 'universal' app, in that it isn't limited to phone or tablet, per se. However, Android automatically flags certain app features as available only to a limited subset of Android devices. In this case, your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, OS 4.1.1 reverts to the 3.0 even when installing the latest version. This is so that even as new features are incorporated, new users coming to the app who don't have the optimally supported devices can still install and use some version of the app.

The QE team did see the behavior you describe intermittently, and I am prioritizing the mobile team to investigate this issue next week to see if we can isolate and fix it.

I am having a similar issue. I have two sample maps with basically nothing there that will open, but a map with links and notes will not. Every time I try to open it from my Galaxy Note II or on my Acer Iconia tablet, the message comes up that "unfortunately, mindjet maps has stopped."

Using the web interface on chrome, android 4.1.2 on smartphone, 4.0.3 on tablet

Any resolution or updates on this problem Mindjet people? I still have no synchronization between maps on my PC (web), my android phone and my android tablet. My phone and tab seem to be the problem as only occasionally do changes I make on these mobile devices actually update any of the maps. Most changes are not retained. Only when I make changes on the web app (on my PC) do changes get retained.

P.S. I have uninstalled and re installed the Mindjet app on my android phone and android tab and the sync problem remains.

Still getting a similar issue using Dopbox and latest version on Note 4. Map changed on the Android is autosaved to a new version. Doesn't seem to be a way to sync the changes to the original file.

Horror app. This problem is so long on the radar that it is becoming fraude to sell subscriptions knowing this level of lacking functionality still exists.
This is absolutely ridiculous...
