Random Colors for Branches

Mindjet 2018 - Is it possible to set a feature in the settings that will make the branch color from the main topic random (e.g. line and branch have a unique color).  Currently, one color is used for all of the branch lines.

I think I am missing a setting somewhere.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if you're talking about line or fill colour, or both, but unfortunately MindManager doesn't have a random colour generator.

I'm not sure if any other mind mapping programs can generate topic colours completely randomly, but some will generate a "rainbow" of colours which become more finely differentiated as topics are added; in fact, this is the default setting for new maps in iThoughts, from Toketaware.

iThoughts will export to MindManager, so one option would be to download the trial version, use it to generate a number of maps with different numbers of "rainbowed" topics, and export these to MM  (I think you can do this with the trial version but I'm not absolutely certain if there are any restrictions). There you could save these as templates, or even as map parts; when doing the latter you can add these to a new map then remove the main topic only, thus making the coloured topics the main topics on the map.

This approach will colour only the main topics, but these colours will all be available under the Fill Colour command for you to apply manually to sub-topics. Alternatively once the sub-topics have been added you could use the MAP add-in's Map Shader on each of the main topics to colour each branch's sub-topics to be either progressively lighter or darker than the colour of their main topic.

There is ( or was ;-) a free addin made by Danish Necsus it consulting, that you could try. I don't know if it has been updated to MM2018, but why not see the movie first to find out if it is what you would like to have? And ofcourse I would like to know your opinion.

Thanks.  That is what I was looking for.  However, it is not available for MindManager 2018.  Good to know someone else was thinking of the same feature.

Thanks for this lead, very helpful.
